Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has conceded that he may end up producing another instalment in the popular stealth franchise at some point, despite previously claiming that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be his last.
Speaking during an interview with Kikizo, Kojima commented, “When we look ten years into the future, maybe yes, I may well end up spending more time on the Metal Gear series.”
“I always intend to stay true to these statements; I do always say what I actually feel at that time, after each Metal Gear, when I say I am going to move on to the next project.
“But it’s like when Hayao Miyazaki says he is not going to do more, and then always ends up doing it.”
Guns of the Patriots is the last canonical title in the series to feature protagonist Solid Snake, though Kojima has confirmed that a fifth instalment will eventually be made, with rumours pointing towards a prequel involving Big Boss.

You don't see George Lucas making another project other than Star Wars. Look at him now, he just created a 3D animation of Star Wars Clone Wars. It's not much of a difference when Kojima-san creates another MGS game. You can be damn sure I will get the game everytime he releases his MGS game in public.

Poor guy. I know what it is. He doesn't wanna give control to someone who will screw up his vision, but he also doesn't want to devote entire chunks of his life to it forever. When he found out about the NES MG2 "Snake's Revenge", that changed him forever. He never wants that to happen again. * * Anyway, how bout a remake of the events of Metal Gear, right? ONLY TELL IT FROM BIG BOSS' PERSPECTIVE! You as BB are the hero, an th "villain" is Solid Snake! The only bad thing is you lose at the end. * * Another idea is som type of story that allows me to use som of the other favorites of the series. I wanna play aseither Gray Fox, Olga Gurlukovich, of Raiden as the Cyborg Ninjas. Maybe Reolver or Liquid, too. Speaking of Liquid, he has a whole special forces career in England before Shadow Moses. There's a game right there.

He better do!! No-one understands MGS as much as this guy. It would be nice if they started a new story for MGS because new people to the series wouldn't understand the storyline and what 10 years have passed since MGS1, That's an opportunity to start a new storyline and bring more fans to the series.

ok we all love snake that's a fact but i think it would be best to start a new sires. with a new main character and villan like 5-10 years after snake and liquid. with the patriots starting a whole new war and somebody wanting to see liquId dream true.either way no matter what kojima-san do with the MG sires I'm sure it will be a great game. I will buy the game hands down

@15 If you've never been a fan, shouldn't this not really matter to you. You say you want something new, but as someone who's not really a fan, then why don't you go to all the new games that other people are making. There's plenty of game that live up to the standard that MGS4 has set, like for example Left 4 Dead!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Boss. A game with her would be the best thing to happen to gaming since... Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. :P

I don't blame Hideo Kojima for wanting to move onto something different, but I'm sure whatever game he creates it'll be just as good.

Hmm...but the question remains - how could the story be further expanded(chronologically)? I'd like to see it continue with Big Boss during the time of the Les Enfants Terribles project, and to witness Zeros ambition behind the la-li-lu-le-lo.

@10 I agree. I know some of the hardcore MGS fans might not agree with this but the story for mgs is so intricate and complex I simply can't fit anymore into my brain without forgetting parts of the previous stories haha. I would love to see a brand new protaganist as bad*** as solid snake. Maybe a game set like 50 years after MGS4 because lets face it MGS4 wrapped up pretty much all of the loose ends anyways.

I think the next MGS might not have anything to do with Snake.
