Koller: "It's going to be a big E3"

Sony’s John Koller is at it again. Not content with extolling the company’s first party offerings, hinting at Facebook PS3 integration or stating that console exclusivity is as dead as the dodo, SCEA's ubiquitous hardware boss is now claiming that this year’s E3 convention will be one of the most significant for the firm in 11 years.
“It’s going to be a big E3,” Koller told VG247.com.
“We’ve just started planning what the announcements will be, but I’ve been here for 11 years: this will be one of the larger E3s in terms of software and just discussions about where we’re going from a brand perspective and where each of the platforms is headed.”
The executive further hinted that gamers can expect a heap of software revelations at this year’s show, adding, “I think some of the big announcements are going to come of the software side. We talked a bit at Destination PlayStation, and came out with about half of the PSP line-up, maybe even less, and the balance we’re going to be talking about in the months leading up to e3 and at E3.”
PS3 won’t be left in the dark either: “The same goes for PS3,” said Koller. “There’s a really strong line-up of games that’s going to help drive a lot of business.”

PSP has been getting all the best games in recent years.
I wish I could download and play PSP games on my PS3. Almost all of the recent PSP titles have been better than the best PSN title.
As for where they're going from a brand perspective, I just hope they announce they'll be moving away from FPS's. I would love to get a Harvest Moon game on the ps3. And maybe, if we're really lucky, a new DOAX game~

There's many things that we want but to me, I want a sollid release date for Final Fantasy 13 and Versus 13. Even tho they say it's 2010 as they claimed that's still not enough. Better firmware updates. Like what Mattchewie said the ability to "voicechat while never stopping the action" lol

I want to hear: "Yeah, we're really sorry about not getting our behinds in gear sooner, but now that we've kicked out the deadweight at the top, we're slowly getting on track for having the complete psOne and Ps2 library of titles available for download on the PSN. The offerings will vary as per the choices of the publishers, the games typically being either packages designed for smooth play on the ps3 in conjunction with releases of new titles (as in the case of Team ICO's latest PS3 title launch, and the GOW 1&2 collector's edition). Or otherwise be the old releases designed to be played on the psp or the ps3 - yes, naturally we're designing an automatic synchronization of game- saves whenever you take your psp indoors, I too hate the lame connect, blablbabla routine myself after having played Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger on the way to work. Oh, and this will to varying degrees be offered together with the blu-ray releases in terms of promotion codes for use on the PSN, or just on the disc - it's all digital, and we'll offer the original publishers more or less full freedom on how to approach this in the most convenient way - we're really just focused on that this should simply make sense to the customer, that is our only demand to the third parties. We will also start to officially track the ps3- usage of our customers from the 3.0 firmware- release for the express purpose of banning everyone screaming about voice- chat (I mean, what the hey, do you talk on the phone while you're playing a game? Of course you don't - and it doesn't even have a purpose, now does it? Hey, bob, I need backup right now! -Yeah, that's cool but I'm playing tetris. Seriously, people).. But we realise that this demand will not go away, so we've decided to ban anyone complaining about it from the PSN. The same goes for anyone caught not playing a single PsOne title every month. Let's be realistic and think of studios that could be developping ps3 exclusives titles right now.....
level 5??-they finished white knight and a small part of the team are working on the localisation.....or if the entire team is working on the localisation or if the whole team is in break for a few months, i don't see why they wouldn't be working on another ps3 title like dark cloud 3 or rogue galaxy 2.
insomniac are working on next R&C but they could also make a new game, incognito, since it's lightbox that are creating the next warhawk game, they must be preaparing something, or they are affiliated with lightbox to make the next hawk. and also those that made motorstorm must be developping something on ps3 or so i hope. -

hey whats up guys ,im new to playstation universe !!! lol , anyways what im expecting from sony this e3 , games , games and more games lol , 1 or 2 old playstation franchises making their debut this gen, 1 or 2 new ips , more of the same ( GOW3, U2, M.A.G.,Ratchet , Heavy Rain) perhaps something about Wardevil and to my understanding sony santa monica is working on the localization of white knight chronicles perhaps we get a released date at E3, lots of new psn games, exciting news about home game spaces ( motorstorm being 1 of them) , lots of gameplay videos from psp games ( motorstorm, little big planet, jack and daxter , socom 3 and more) , 1 or 2 very good surprises lol

@teevanator: yeah, sorry.... bad day.. bad news re. pirate bay. The whorehoppers are having a field day.
Anyway - Sony should still try to establish they're having a clear strategy for continuing the playstation brand in terms of quality games and content. Less pandering to the publishing houses, please, and more particulars about how to 1. encourage development, 2. secure variety in content for a large user- base, and 3. create the best playstation experience for the user.

I think Microsoft also says the same thing. Nintendo, of course, doesn't care (or maybe they do, since their shares dropped?)
I'd be more excited for the Upcoming PS3 lineup if my TV hadn't just died.
