Media Molecule Co-Founder Alex Evans has said that Phil Harrison’s influence during the conceptual stages of the studio’s forthcoming LittleBigPlanet was “completely key and pivotal.”
Speaking with Gamesindustry.biz, Evans stated, "Obviously that then transitioned into Sony, and especially the team at Liverpool, and Michael Denny - I don't want to downplay their roles as well. But certainly with Phil, at the very beginning, the amazing thing was that he got it.”
Evans went on to describe how the team struggled to put the game into words before the project actually took shape, and initially felt that publishers would not grasp the idea, “let alone champion it.”
"But the interesting thing with Phil was that when we pitched to him, we actually played down what became the Game 3.0 things that he talked about,” he explained.
"We pitched much more of a platform game, the physics and so on, and he was very instrumental in telling us to think about what it would mean to have user-generated content - to think about what that means for the community."
"I think that was his influence on the game early on, and I think it was hugely useful to have that degree of focus in the right place, and the right time."
Despite Harrison’s recent move to Infograms, Evans stated that Sony is fully supportive of the title, and feels there will be a continuation of “good patterns" that were established during the development process.
LittleBigPlanet is due out exclusively on PlayStation 3 later this year.

Anything that promotes creativity and social gaming is a good thing, really looking forward to this and im so glad that Phil/Sony saw the potential.
Phil will be missed. It should be interesting how his replacement pans out.
Although the cancellation of the Getaway (known franchised - platinum titles) and a promising title in Eight Days, does not bode well.
Good luck though, because if he does well, then we reap the benefits.
i have very high hopes for this game and will be getting it the day it comes out!!!!
This shows in some sort of way that Phil did have the best interest for the gamers. I hope that Sony new managment doesn't stray to far away from this pad
People diss phil but I thought he put on a good face to sony and it seems like he is a real gamer at heart.
Why oh why did you choose atari phil?
I think "social gaming" is an oxymoron. The most popular online gaming is anti-social in nature and brings the worst out in people.
lmfao You are so right ODIUM_GENERERIS_HUMANI !
In 1960, The Beatles were formed inLiverpool and went on to be the greatest rock band in the world. In 2008, LittleBigPlanet is formed in Liverpool . Will this be the greatest game in the world? It's quite possible. You can actually take letters out of the words LittleBigPlanet and form the word Beatle. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! ;~)
The Beatles = LittleBigPlanet
phils departure sucks its a good thing that kaz understands the importance of community based gaming dont let media molecule go sony if i was them i would try to make them first party they have amazing potential and you would have to be blind not to see it
@bracomadar that was awesome
/clap
i wasent going to get his game but now i keep heringn about it and look at the trailers i might buy it now
Phil provided more value than most people gave him credit for!
@odium
There's also a huge Japanese influence here ... people need virtual space to enjoy with their friends (hence HOME being pushed so hard). This extends to the gaming arena too. Admitedly it's not the same as going out to the park with a football but at least the weather's better.
psn id: gingo... glad ps3 got this eclusively, it is a massive leap forward in gaming and user generated content so it will be amazing to finally get a shot of this and see how well it works
