More on PS3 Orange Box problems

The Orange Box could possibly be a huge hit for the PlayStation 3 this holiday season. Featuring Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, this all in one pack is surely worth the $59.99 that it is set at. However, could technical issues make PS3 owners think twice about purchasing the title, or should they?
Many previews of the title have pointed to the notion that the game experiences many technical issues such as a low framerate. Conversely, there has been a new previous that knocks down the notion that Orange Box on the PS3 is pretty much unplayable. Hilary Goldstein of IGN who recently got the opportunity to preview the game, commented with:
"[The Orange Box] is still a fantastic collection and runs well for the most part, but there are some technical issues that put it behind the 360 version. Technical issues aren't going to be enough to deter anyone who wants to enjoy Orange Box on PS3. Unless you require your games to never dip below 30fps, you should not strike The Orange Box off your PS3 holiday wish list."
PlayStation Universe will continue to cover this title. Until then, keep Orange Box at the top of your list, it will indeed deliver.

I cant really blame EA on this one yeah they give bad ports but really Gabe Newell is a fat f*** and i think its getting to his brain. Honestly you want to bash the playstation, a console that has sold upwards of 200 millions units? If i were him that would mean great money for him, well to bad for you Gabe keep making enemies.

Its to bad that someone who offers such an amazing game is completely blinded by his own ignorance. That being sad it shouldnt be what u think of a system or a company that stops u from bring your product to their consumers...... it should be your legacy to want to bring your product to as many customers as possible to proove your product. So basically gabe doesnt value our opinion as consumers so f**k him lol

EA sucks. But I thinks its kinda funny that, since this is a ps3 site, that Mr. Jackson left out the portion of the article where the IGN lady said that the ps3 version has slightly superior lighting and textures. Not much I know, but you would think it would atleast have been mentioned.

It’s very pc if you know what i mean, it's a brilliant game on the xbox 360 because i have finished it but i'm not to sure on ps3 has ea have been doing it, my guess it's a complete mess, at least valve did the xbox 360 version and a good job too, but ea not sure?

I think this is all part of Newell's part to prove himself right and prove that the "PS3 is a waste of everyone's time". Think about it. If he just throws the development to some other team, not even bothering with checking whether it's up to the "quality" associated with Valve, and because of those glitches the game doesn't do well, he just proved himself right.

There is no excuse to why the game is running slowly on the ps3, it is really pathetic how EA has been performing lately, the comany has grown too large and has lost the imagination and skill which smaller companies have. Whats sad is that EA has the resources and money to make really spectacular games and if they wanted to they could have made the ps3 version of Orange Box superior to any other version, but theres just no effort in any of the work they do. EA should stop making games and just publish games instead.

I'm mad that other game developer company that have less of a well known name and less games than EA can make PS3 games with very little to no problems but EA still has a hard time making games for PS3. That just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. EA is an extremely big name in the gaming industry and they can't make games as good as smaller developers such as infinitely ward who had no trouble making one of the best FPS games such as COD4 for both PS3 and 360 with NO TROUBLES WHATSOEVER. In fact they said that making COD4 for PS3 was EASY!!!!! Why does EA still have troubles?

I've finshed half-life 2 years ago, the stroy is ok, I couldn't see many people having much fun using a console controller, as whole level parts are all shift 2-3 boxes around in water/toxic slime to stand on to get to the other side, plus have bad guys jumping out from the water/slime you'd be murdered on the spot.
playing this on a console with the whole pyshics thing would be pretty bad at best. -

"The Orange Box could possibly be a huge hit for the PlayStation 3 this holiday season, but since Gabe Newell is an ignorant retard bent on ignoring one of the largest fanbases in the world. Featuring Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, you would think EA would remove their heads from their a**es and maybe bring in some decent PS owners money, this all in one pack is surely worth the $.59 that it is worth. However, technical issues make PS3 owners think twice about purchasing the title, because no other publisher/developer can take a page out of Activision's/ Infinity Ward's book and make a decent freakin game that can increase their profits to fund EA's world Domination plot."

I have The Orange Box on the PC, and its a great collection of games, too bad Valve couldn't be a*sed to port this to the PS3 themselves. The engine is 4 years old (albeit with some improvements) so even if you have an old PC it should run with decent settings, and fps controls on the PC are better anyway (imo of course).

it seems that the ps3 has lots of game with this issues of poor frame rate in there games, or the graphics are not as detailed as the 360 version.. I think the major reason is that just like intel had a high powered cpu the took one of there processor and cut the cache sixe in half called teh Celeron, maybe that is why the ps3 is sturggling so much when it comes to the graphics fps. Like the old war with intel and amd. Intel had the mhz but Amd still won.. It all comes down to how the games look and play at the end of the day, and 360 has been performing well at.

Is it too much to ask to have the gaming running as well on the PS3?

@tom
Yes they should have mentioned that PS3 version has better lighting and textures. Don't forget that IGN previewed it, so how old is the build IGN played? If it has superior textures now, will they improve the frame-rates before it goes gold? I'll wait for reviews from various sites as one can say the frame-rate is good while another says it drops below 30fps.
But this is from Hilary and don't like his reviews, you'd think he was on the 360 team, and yes Hilary is a guy.

Hey it's none of these issues it's simple ea hasn't got any developers that have learned to program on the ps3 they will eventually crack it like epic have and infinity ward it's just other developers learn to utilise it first, theres nothing wrong with the cell processor give ea a year because after all you can't expect every developer to get this brand new technology right in it's first year why do you think valve passed this project on not to get RED FACED because they would struggle with it and show them up, but give it a year once every developer get used to this technology and then you’l see the power of ps3

i've played the orange box. it's not that bad at all. sure the game crashed on me ONCE, the framerate stutters like twice in every half an hour and there's a load time be4 each scripted quick save, but they shouldnt stop from gettin this! it's still incredible value for ur buck
EA is not as bad as u make them sound (ie like devil spawns)
Whatever u say to them, Valve ROX!!! even if they are being incredibly stupid by ignorin the ps3, u realize Killzone wouldnt be the same without Half Life (nor would any other FPS). And I KNOW all of u want to get ur hands on Left 4 Dead...
