As one of the PlayStation 3’s most successful flagship titles, MotorStorm presented a unique racing experience alongside detailed graphics and enjoyable gameplay. It was only inevitable that developer Evolution Studios and publisher SCE have teamed up for the sequel.
Announced last September, MotorStorm 2 immediately became a must have game for many PS3 owners. Through videos and various sources, it was apparent that the next installment would take place in a tropical setting, most noticeably on an island.
However, according to Geekpulp, the game now has the official title of MotorStorm: Pacifica. The name comes from the game’s evident topical setting, which seemingly takes place in an island in the Pacific Ocean.
No real word yet as to what exact island(s) the game will take place on, but speculation is always welcome in our comments section. Some of the chief settings may perhaps be the Hawaiian, Fiji, Solomon, Cook, or the American Samoa Islands. Either way, the game will surely be a visual delight.
Stay tuned for more PSU coverage of MotorStorm: Pacifica in the near future.

Hmm, still looks nice, but Motorstorm 2 dosn't sound like an old name of a game no one cared about. Or a WWII game about the Pacific war. Pacifica just dosn't sound like a racing games name.

Pacifica is a subtitle, the game will always be known as Motorstorm 2 regardless. I expect that's what they're refer to the the setting as.
I'm hoping for big jumps (like from one islant to the next type jumps), Stone bridges, island caverns, and ruins of some ancient island tribes and stuff. Maybe we'll run ing to Nathan drake and have to avoide getting shot by the gun on the back of his jeep.:P

Oh Gees PSU, Pacifica doesn't necesarily come from Pacific Ocean at all. Pacific is a adjective in its own right meaning peacefulness, and Pacifica is the Italian form of this. It could be absolutely anywhere in the world.
Why write an article jumping to daft conclusions like this? It might as well be a forum post.

Humm..Well I would like the game to have both settings, if its anythin like the last one looking at all them trees after 100+ hours of playing is going to be no diffrent then the last MotorStorm with all the sand and rocks. Dont get me wrong i love the game, just you can all see how we may end up in the same boat.

Motorstorm 2 sounded fine to me, but Pacifica sounds much better than Atlantica (a waterworld-y name), Indiana (heh), and Arctica (though couldn't be tropical here.) Maybe Motorstorm Revenge?

I like the 'Motorstorm 2' name much better than 'Motorstorm: Pacifica' one.
