No yearly installment of Rock Band planned in 2009

One of the biggest fears, we, as gamers have, is that a company may try to milk a franchise for all it's worth by releasing titles on a yearly basis. This epidemic inevitably leads to poorer and poorer results until finally, the fans of the game give up and move on to greener pastures.

Thankfully, Rock Band is looking as though it will not fall victim to this problem. Speaking at the Billboard CES Session today, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous has confirmed that there will be no new installment of the title in 2009.

This is without a doubt a very smart decision by Electronic Arts and should do nothing but help build the anticipation for the next iteration some time in 2010, if not 2011.

    Thank god.

All I want are updates to the actual game I have now. and not to mention it would just screw up the overseas market that hasnt even gotten the second one yet! Dont fall into the horrible EA mindset and  create Madden Band '09. It's just a pointless extra expendature when the last game is still makeing decent bank.

Dont get me wrong, I love the game but theres no reason to milk the market... you know. the way Guitar Hero is doing.

Rock Band missed the Party in Europe.  GHWT is the Rock Game of choice here now (according to units sold anyway).

This is good news.  I love RB2 (way better than GH in all ways possible except for the wireless guitar) and feel that this is a very smart move on Harmonix's part.  Besides, with all the DLC that comes out each week, there really isn't a need for another RB release right away.

I'm glad their doing this, but they shouldn't come out with another game until 2011, or something.

This is why I like games such as FF, GT, and GTA. Their always different everytime, and they come out atleast 4-5 years later at most.

Every 2 years for a new RB sounds just right to me. Not sure if instruments can hold out for a full 2 years though, especially for us expert players.

That's what I'm saying about europe. They need to get their act together so that GH(the inferior product) cant out sell them. wait a year more make RB3 the most kickash thing they can and then release it on both continents within weeks of eachother and procceed to stick a fork in GH.

As long as there's lots of DLC, I've got no problem with this.

At least release Rock Band 2 in Europe before Rock Band 3 in US >:( That would be nice for a change!
