Objects are weapons in Heavy Rain where "logical"

Quantic Dream boss David Cage has spoon-fed us a little more info on spell-binding PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain.
The player will be able to use objects as weapons, apparently, but you'll only have the opportunity to do so where "logical" - no free-roaming stab-the-passer-by-with-a-kitchen-fork shenanigans here.
By way of an example, Cage referred to the thrilling sequence screened at this year's Leipzig event, which depicted a female character trapped in a serial killer's house.
“You could take the bottle, you can take the screwdriver, you can take the chainsaw, you can use different things and use them as a weapon if the context makes it logical,” he told Videogaming247. “For example, when the guy comes back in, it’s a weapon. But if you’re just in middle the street, no."
"The philosophy behind it is not like GTA and it’s an open world and I can do whatever, even if it’s silly," Cage explained. "You can do whatever makes sense in the context. That’s really our policy.”
Heavy Rain is out next year, and is already looking so lush we'd go to bed with it.

gameplay elements sound interesting...but yet somehow confusing(with the non-stop campaign and now this).

Geez people what's so confusing about it?? It's like Dragon's Lair with more control of the character. You follow the scene until a choice is offered and you make a quick decision. In the video it's clear that much of the action is quicktime based much like the fights in God of War where you hit a button at the right time.
The strength of this game is in the way the story is told with dramatic visuals and by keeping things focused instead of allowing you to tangent from the main story like you can with an open world game.

Actually, I'm glad they won't just let you run around stabbing random passerby's. I really can't stand GTA largely because it's just vile. I think this shows that these guys want to make a game with cinematic quality gameplay and a story, not just a game.

@Alpha2: You'll confuse people even more, its already confirmed that the story isn't all QTE, you have full control over moving the character..therefore making it up to the player to shape the story..for instance if the player controls the character properly in that house they can escape..if not they can just walk straight into the confrontation..
People who think the game sounds boring are just narrowminded !! I'm not surprised as this is the first time this genre has become mainstream in a long time !! If you didn't like games like the Broken Sword series and Sam & Max then move on this is not for you..I personally am very excited as I really enjoy the genre and their last game (Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy) was very enjoyable.

Yeah sounds good to me, basically I can use anything around me as a weapon if I am being attacked or something of the like but if I am standing alone I will not beable to like in GTA. I agree focus on the story not running around like a clown doing stupid things
