PS3 error 8001050F appears fixed; awaiting official word from Sony

It appears the problem impacting pre-PlayStation 3 Slim units may be corrected. Sony warned earlier today that people who own PS3’s older than the Slim model should not turn their systems on.

Many PS3 owners (including this reporter) experienced the PSN error 8001050F. There were several problems reported today, including the system date reset to Jan 1, 2000, troubles with Trophy support, and problems playing certain downloaded movies.

At this time, it appears some PS3 owners who were affected by this error are not experiencing the same problems as they did earlier. From our perspective, we now have full functionality of Trophies, Trophy supported games, access to the PSN, and our system date is properly identified.

There is no official word from Sony about the fix, but we’ll be sure to keep you update when more information is available. Post comments below if your system is working, or if you are still facing problems.
