BIA: Hell's Highway 'Realism' trailerThe latest PS3 firmware, v2.20, has just been released to the public for download.
This newest firmware adds a whole boatload of new Blu-ray functionality, included the highly-anticipated BD-Live feature. Expect to see some improvements to DivX playback and PSP/PS3 functionality as well. No in-game XMB this time folks, but it's a worthwhile update regardless.
The full list of additions are as follows:
-- "Resume play" will enable PS3 system to start playing a Blu-ray disc
and DVD at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been
removed.
-- "Audio Output Device" will be a new Remote Play setting, enabling PSP
to serve as a remote control for music played through PS3.
-- PS3 system's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly
linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's
view speed will be improved.
-- DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable.
-- "Mosquito Noise Reduction" will be added as an AV setting in the
control panel of the DVD/BD player for improved movie playback.

no in game XMB, but still pretty sweet.

Kept erroring out when accepting the update from sign in page. But worked fine when selecting system update without signing in...
= i need to increase my signal speed. I've been downloading it since it came out. only like 60% now..

Yea i'm getting sick of hearing about XMB "not" being included. Its going to eventually and I would think that when it actually does get released it will be from a firmware update that is a little more hyped up and known about then this one that was hardly known about until we received it and why would people want Home to be released when its not ready and incomplete?? People need to just be patient!!

Isnt the speed of which you view the internet or browser got to do with your internet connection speed?
-Some people are saying, "while viewing PSU my browser is quicker. Almost by 6 seconds". I wasnt aware that an update could speed up your browser or internet speed. ? ? ?
EDIT: Sorry for this. I now understand that the browser is faster and it doesnt affect your internet connection/speed.

I just noticed that the blue lamp on the Playstation Eye doesn't stay on anymore when the PS3 is on stadby in Remote Start. It used to be on when I had it plugged in untill 2.17. Nice feature addition.
I think sony is just teasing us. they now that we are expecting home and in game XMB soon. So what do they do? They wait for three months to go by, and in one month hit us with two diffrent updates. I like the style, its making me hope every time I see that i need to update. I cant wait, till the tease is OVER. :)
All I have to say is, that in-game XMB must be hard as &@$!!@ to do or get right, because tey HAVE to know it should be first priority. Actually, I take that back...THIS BD Live thing is really important to the existance of Blu-Ray as one of the cheif complaints of HD-DVD fans was that BD didn't have PiP capability. BUT I TELL YOU THIS, IF THERE IS ANOTHER UPDATE WITHOUT XMB ACCESS, I WILL BE IN A CONSTANT STATE OF ANGER UNTIL THERE IS, AND MIGHT EVEN REPLACE MY CRAP BOX 3-POOPY!
This is a great and well needed up date for the ps3's multimedia functionality.
Didn't they just release a Firmware update. This update has nothing that interest's me. *sigh*

why cant i get rid of letterbox effect watching dvd's when i can on a dvd player or my old ps2?
For the people complaining-STOP COMPLAINING. You should be grateful we're even getting updates first of all. Sony will probably address that stuff when it's READY. If it's not READY, they wouldn't dare push something like that on the market. I'm updating right now and I appreciate their firmware update.
Nice updates for blu-ray. Sony has come a long way from where they were. While it would be nice to have the XMB in game, I can wait. It really gets old seeing the same thing from people about it. Sony will get it to us in due time.

I don't get it... why doesn't the PS3 output the raw audio signal, to be processed externally (by a dedicated receiver) like some newer BD players? Are Sony purposely doing this to force people into stand alone players, if they are serios about movies? If the PS3 could do this, it does weaken the need to go for stand alone players quite significantly.

Check on of the older posts about the announcement of firmware 2.20. It's about 2 title.
I would like more music Visualisers (are these easy to make?) or allow us to download them in a similar fashion to Themes
