Following the recent release of the new PSP-3000 model, a number of inevitable comparison shots have hit the net showcasing just how much brighter and more colorful the new screen really is.

In comparison to the Slim and Lite PSP models, the PSP-3000 features an improved LCD screen with increased color range, five times the contrast ratio, hence the nickname "PSP Brite." Take a look at the photos below.

The PSP-3000 is available now in North America, Europe and Japan, with an Australian release due on October 23.

Hmmmmm but with the added quality of picture, how much now has that added to the battery life consumption?

I think it's bullshots. I think it's two different pictures on it with different colours. I have PSP 1004 and it's far enough colourfull.

Definately changed my mind, but still.

I would not upgrade mine - its just sitting in a draw somewhere. Instead of spending time making a new screen for PSP, why doesn't some bright spark make some games for PSP? That way we could actually use our existing PSP's for something worth while.

I will be upgrading my old clonker of a PSP to this new daddy, the screen looks good plus i will benefit from the reduced size and weight as i cary mine around every day all be it as a glorified MP3 player, chubacca is right we need some more games, i know i wont be buying any untill retribution comes out.

I purchased the new one. And its BS if anyone says that it is not an improvement. I was disappointed that even though you can see the screen a little better in the daylight, it is still not worth playing in direct sunlight. If you are underneath any sort of shade (or in a car without titnted windows) however it is a different matter. And that is a big difference. Games look much better, it is like a day and night comparison.

i might buy this one but, probably won't.  i've bought a psp slim and then sold it, it gave me a headache when playing games and didn't really have any place to play it.

actually.... i think i kinda like that snowy look the old one has... and apparently this ones battery life has been cut in half almost cuz of the brighter screen,

yea yea thats all good, but what about the important stuff. where the heck is the increase in internal memory, i sucks that i can videos online with my cellphone n not my psp. it also bites that there's no kind of bluetooth support for headsets in the new model. how about some software upgrades for the music player. for right now i stay with the original psp, until a such time sony feels like truly improving the psp the right way!
