Quake-Con 08 Rage trailer released

id Software has released an extended trailer for its upcoming First Person Shooter, Rage, showcasing the game's smooth 60fps framerate and high quality megatextures.

According to id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead, the PlayStation 3 version of the title "may look better" than its Xbox 360 counterpart due to storage limitations attributed to the 360's DVD9 discs. Despite the fact that the developers are putting the game onto multiple discs, they still are having to compress the game’s textures, ultimately lowering the quality of detail.

"Today we are saying that Rage may look better on the PS3 than the 360," said Hollenshead. "I think the blu-ray strategy and some of the other things they’ve done in terms how (the PS3) is positioned as a home entertainment device, shows that (Sony) is placing their bet on the PS3 as a marathon runner not a sprint and Microsoft was a little more focused on the short term goals."

    finally more and more people realizing that storage limitations can be a problem on dvd9 and no hard drive. Even with a hard drive you can see the difference clearly a game like MGS4 can look like delivered on a blu-ray. --I am loving the look of the setting in the trailer - like a house of 1000 corpses

    It's an fps,with a bit of driving here and there.

    Edit:Just saw the trailer,wow,it's astonishingly beautiful.

     YEEEEEAH!!! It comes to PS3!!!! and gimme Quake !!!!4 and Doom 1-2 to psn!!!

    I always knew that Carmaсk isn't idiot!! and Id made Rage for PS3

     I am really surprised, lately in the past few months, more and more companies are relizing how great the PS3 rele is. I am glad now that PS3 games either look the same or better then all its counterparts on the 360.

    kind of off subject but wouldn't it be cool if they brought back BUST A GROOVE i love that game!!! ohh yea trailer was brutal!!!!

    Maybe more 3rd party dev's will start taking advantage on sony's BD technology! Althuogh the trailer looks great I'll wait to see what in-game footage look's like before jumping to the roof!

    as usual ... ID are leaders.. and they just chose best platform.. a  lot of that is ingame footage. I've made up my mind..  ID are kings!
