Ready at Dawn: PS3 will likely win console battle

Posted on March 14th, 2008 at 07:05 EDT

Ready at Dawn, developer of the PlayStation Portable title, God of War: Chains of Olympus, has stated its belief that the PlayStation 3 will likely win the on-going console battle, but confessed the next hardware cycle could prove a more interesting race.

Speaking to Next-Gen.biz, Studio Head Didier Malenfant commented, “I think PS3 will win this generation when all is said and done.”

“What I’m more curious about is the next one really. Microsoft made a dent this time around and can stand to finally get the upper hand if they stick it out and/or if Sony stays complacent like they did early on in this generation. That’s where the real fight is going to be in my opinion.”

“As for Nintendo,” he continued, “they’re not targeting the same market so it’s not really comparable.”

Well the ps3 haves wifi + huge disc capacity on a winning next gen format. Also a web browser. Whereas microsoft haves a defective product on the shelves of stores , and they are going to do nothing but make consumers buy more of the same defective product even with them releasing cooler chips its still just a harsh thing that they are doing to consumers.

The 360 is a good a sprinter in a long distance race and is slowly startin to burnout whereas the PS3 is a kenyan marathon runner and is slowly startin to edge away from the pack lol.

Y'know why is it that everyone except nintendo fans seem to realize this?

The Playstation consoles have the largest demographic... over 100 million PS1 consoles sold, over 120 million PS2 consoles sold and still counting... there's just no doubt that the PS3 is going to win.

In my personal opinion, Microsoft will NEVER EVERbe able to beat Sony in this console race or the 8th gen console race unless they start making more diverse games. Every time you turn around, Microsoft is releasing a  rated M exclusive game title. Microsoft will need to broaden it's gaming market if it even wants to be more successful in the 8th gen console race. The thing that's holding Microsoft back right now is it's limited appeal to hardcore gamers only and it will continue to haunt Microsoft until they do something different.

If Microsoft continues to release shooters like crazy in the 8th gen console race just like they have done in the 7th gen console race, the outcome of the console war will be the same.... Sony will win again. If Microsoft can't be successful in areas such as Japan, they have some work to do, however, it seems to me as if Microsoft doesn't care about how good they sell abroad.

Also, Microsoft seems to make consoles for the short-run and not the long-run like Sony. I'm going to make a prediction right now. I bet that Microsoft will discontinue the Xbox 360 the same year that the Xbox 720 comes out just like they did the first Xbox when the Xbox 360 came out.

Sony is picking up a lot of steam and I just know that eventually, Sony will win the console war, it's only a matter of time.

PlayStation vs. CDi? PlayStation.  PlayStation 2 vs. Dreamcast? PS2.  PlayStation 3 vs. 360? Duh.

The ps3 is going to win...if not this year then definitely next year but its coming to an end for Microsoft. theres quite a while before either manufacturer  even thinks of releasing another console. so im not worried about anything microsoft does because they will fail.

lol i laugh whenever i read people post this type of stuff, i mean we are all gamers. some of us support sony, others microsoft, their are a few of us who get to enjoy both consoles and reap the benefits of being multi-console owners...its kinda funny though how some people really get worked up about which system is better.....its sound cliche but i think both systems are unique in their own right....i mean i love Xbox's Live service...but i would'nt wanna trade in my ps3 for it.....it in the end it all comes down to games....what system can offer the best competitive, fun games.....in my opinion the console that delivers the best game experiences is going to "win".

I completely agree with Ready at Dawn's final statement, seriously they're pretty much going after different markets, so in turn are indirect competition to eachother, unlike the 360 which targets most of the same market as the PS3

I know they're going to win. Once they win, people will stop bashing it.
