Reeves has 'no knowledge' of PlayStation 4

David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), has admitted that he has ‘no knowledge’ a successor to the PlayStation 3, stating he isn’t even sure if such a console has been planned.
Speaking with RTL, Reeves noted, “I'm not even sure if that's being considered," adding, "It's certainly nothing I can talk about. I have absolutely no knowledge of it whatsoever. Not even sure it's being planned."
Elsewhere, Reeves said of general development within the company, "We're still continuing to develop products that we put in our mid range plans six months ago, one year ago."
Looking back at Sony’s console history, it’s not likely we’ll hear anything of PlayStation 4 until at least 2010. Still, with PS3 poised to hang about for at least a decade, we’re not all that surprised.

PS3 has practically just found its feet and people are just recovering from spending that amount of money on PS3.....what could possibly advance in such a small amount of time, theres tons of potential yet to be seen from PS3!

not sure I will buy a ps4 anyway, not unless it's actually worth it. So far I don't think it has been worth the £400 and half decent games that don't use the hardwares potential.

theres no gonna be ps4 even ifs dont wanna know stop making ps4 till 2018 every 10 years stop rip people off every 3 2 years people waisted money allready 4 ps3 give more time when ps3 getting old in 2018 then make ps4 im tired of ps4 ps3 just came out allready 2006 just lasted 2 years almost 3 years of corse i would like ps4 everybody wants ps4 but ps3 just came out we dont wanna spend 600 maybe more that be fair spending agein make ps4 2018 then people spend money till that year then we be more exerseited

with everything kicking off in the world i doubt sony or microsft will rush into developing a brand new console.nothing till 2012 for sure now and in the mean time microsoft will keep buying ps3 exclusives to keep there out of date console ticking over.

We had this conversation back when the PS3 launched, if it's a 10 year system like the PS2 ended up being then we shouldnt hear anything about PS4 until at most 2012 or 2013 the system has lots to give if the media would just stop trying to kill it for the sake causing controversy.

I don't understand why the 10 year system confuses people !! The PS2 has been out since 2000 and it'll still be selling in 2010..the PS3 came out in late 2006 and they started talking about it in 2005..so by that logic the first ounce of info on the PS4 won't be til at least 2010

They are working on it. They always start on the next console after the current generation is released. Somewhere in Japan techs are having the battle of thought processes and design in some sony basement.

such a stupid question they asked from the guy, PS3 just realesed and they think about ps4, of course there will be a ps4 but not for a loooooong time,come on man they still support and make ps2,they still make games for it.same thing will happen to ps3. ps3 is only out for 2 years man. it will take at least another 4 years to even think about ps4. ps2 came 2001 and ps3 came 2007. 6 years. well of course u might say @ 12 LOL gibe me a break man,u dont know anything. but I count november 2006 as first of 2007.

ps4 would be pointless now not everyone has an hdtv yet thats why the 360 and wii are selling so well besides the economy is in recession not everyone is going to have 600$ for a new system. currently the difference between a ps3 and ps4 would be minimal it would be better to wait and see what technology has to offer down the line. im shure we don't want to be caught in a cellphone fad were u need the new hightech phone of the month 2 be cool

PS4 will need to offer a lot more upfront at launch than the PS3 did because I won't be trusting the hype again - I've had my PS3 since two months after launch and I can't say that I have got my moneys worth. I dont think I'm alone with that opinion.
With the success of the Wii - I think Sony will make a very dumbed down Playstation so the PS4 won't be very powerful, it will be a lot cheaper, and will utilise more downloadable content. Kind of a gaming terminal - utilising RGS or virtual desktop like capability.

PS3 is like 7th generation by the time of an new Xbox and Nintendo (you know they won't use Wii again) It's 8th generation won't this mean the ps3 will outsell the new Xbox Queer 9-1 withs its 400GB Blu-ray disc Metal Gear.

Dear lord! @6 are you serious?! Are you mentally retarded or something? What was that incoherent dribble you typed out?! No periods or any other form of punctuation. Everything was completely run together and the spelling was horrible. It looks like a 6 year old with Down's syndrome typed that out. Please, if you decide to post a comment at least make it legible/coherent to a small degree. It doesn't have to be perfect, just try to make it understandable. BTW, you don't have to worry, the PS3 is going to be around for quite some time.

Playstation 9: Sony shipS you a gun, you pick up the gun, then you call the number on the gun. All of a sudden you hear planes flying over and then paratroopers start dropping out of the sky. THEY'RE ALL TRYING TO KILL YOU! It's the ultimate hardcore gaming experience :)

@25 likewise thank you, spared me some time. as to PS4, they've got something planned but doubt its being designed yet. they're prob. thinking about what direction it's going to take, but you can never know maybe new technologies etc. will emerge within 2-3 years so they can't really know how good its processing power will be etc. and make any sort of accurate predictions now....but it will be incredible when it comes out!
