Sky to provide video-on-demand for PSP

SCE Europe and BSkyB have made a deal to deliver on-demand video content to PlayStation Portable.

In fact, the agreement creates a new joint venture company specifically for providing entertainment, such as films, to the 2.3 million PSP owners across the UK and Ireland.

"The company will establish PSP and the new ground breaking video download service as the natural partners for those seeking the ultimate choice of portable entertainment content," according to Sony.

BSkyB is the main provider of satellite TV in the UK, with over 8 million subscribers on its Sky platform.

More details will be revealed in Leipzig, Germany on Wednesday 22nd August, at the annual Games Convention.

Sky won't be able to send this out to the US...the broadcast rights they have are for the UK and ROI only they might be able to push this to the EU but don't think it'll go any further than that, they'll have to do the same thing they did with Sky by Broadband (now Sky Anytime) and restrict it based on where your I.P. address is located...However you'll probably find that another company will pick it up in the US. Chances are it'll eventually go to PS3 as they have a PC based download service already (Sky Anytime).
