Sony expects Killzone 2 to outperform MGS4

Sony has declared that it expects sales of Guerrilla Games’ upcoming Killzone 2 to match if not surpass those of Hideo Kojima’s critically acclaimed stealth/action title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
While it's no secret that Kojima's award winning title was the cause of many PlayStation 3 sales, it goes without saying that the anticipation built up by Guerrilla Games and Killzone 2 may actually be higher than that of the equally successful Grand Theft Auto IV.
Speaking to V for Video Games, a Sony spokesperson had the following to say on the situation.
"It would be a lie to say Sony has not invested heavily in Killzone 2 and each individual at Guerilla games has worked even harder to satisfy any expectations kept by the company and their loyal community. I do see the game breaking a barrier with a huge variety of groups and expect it to see sales as good as Metal Gear Solid 4 if not beyond it."
There is no doubt in our minds that this is one of our most anticipated titles of the entire year, and that's with the likes of Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 offering up stiff competition. However, if Sony feels their supreme title can knock off Game of the Year winner, Metal Gear Solid 4, we may have to believe them.

well that's one thing i not sure of only time will be able to decide if killzone2 can overcome the sales of mgs4 and gta4 two of the highest selling games of 2008 but i have a feeling it will even my dad is gonna pick this game up lol

i'd say equal or less most likely not outperform cause really MGS is a francise known by ALOT of fans it's fanbase is probalbly 10 times higher than Killzone's killzone1 from where i heard was mediocore dont get me wrong killzone 2 is a day 1 purchase for me xD

i think it will too, but it's no insult to mgs4 it's simply the fact that KZ2 appeals to more people, MGS4 can be pretty complicated for people who have never played one, plus the gameplay is much simpler than MGS4's basically its just that kz2's style has more appeal than mgs4's i wouldn't say it's better just that people will notice it more.

Uncharted is my best game (besides MGS4) so theres a rough battle between this and Uncharted 2 in my head when thinking which should be GOTY next year(but thats a long way off no need to worry yet)

I think it'll definitely outperform MGS4 in the sales department. Maybe it'll sell a million more, who knows..

i think killzone 2 will sell more, i don't know anyone that have a ps3 that don't want this game.

I don't know, but I think Killzone can do it depending on the reviews. Its got a lot of hype behind it and the graphics are sure to bring in a lot of sales. I just think a lot of people are kind of unsure about how KZ2 will really turn out.
I definately don't think KZ will be able to outsell GTA because it's an exclusive and GTA is such an established franchise as it is.

lol what a joke this is. Of course killzone 2 will ou perform mgs4. no offense to anyone but ive seen and played killzone wo in beta and the game graphically would wipe the deck with mgs4 and call of duty. i would even say it rivals heavy rain easily. and not to mention the controls flow flawless. here the kind of controls where u pic it up and everything is where u think i would be. not to mention its one of te most talked about games for 4 years. If it wouldn't which it will id personally be shocked. in all fairess mgs4 doesn't stand a chance. Lock and load Helgan the ISA are coming.

i can see this happening because most people didnt buy MGS4 because they never played the first 3
