Sony's Eric Lempel speaks PSN Cards

Posted on December 18th, 2007 at 08:40 EDT

Earlier we revealed that the PSN cards are heading to North America, a delight to many. Now we can reveal more details on the alternative to credit card usage.

Director of PSN Operations, Eric Lempel, commented, "PlayStation Network Cards are coming, and should start appearing at retailers in early '08. The cards will be redeemable via the PlayStation Store for PC, and on the PlayStation 3 to supply the wallet with funds to spend on games, add-ons, and other paid content."

This comes as great news to individuals (such as this humble writer) whom would rather not give away financial information such as a credit card via videogame console. It is good news that Sony has considered this option for those interested in it.

Indeed, 2008 continues to look like an auspicious year for Sony.

I hope we can use multiple cards on purchases.  I'd hate to lose a few dollars on every card.

You mean like "leftover" PSN moeny? There should be like a bank or something where you can store left over money on PSN cards. Yeah most likely using multiple cards shouldn't be a problem, considering new content will be added with these payments as incentives.

@iplaysony

I think that article was about Japn?

@Boxweier

Good question. If all the cards are the same all around the world, then I can't see why you won't be able to get your US playstation card and redeem it on a Japanese account.
