I am all for it if they can release a PS3 unit to the public for $250-$299 price range.  They should fly off the shelves like hot cakes.  Heck, imagine if they were to bundle Uncharted 2 with it for $299?  Sony has gained so much ground this year it is not even funny.

it woul be cool to have a slim one. bit the guy @3 is right.  its better if it had the shine on it :).besides if they really came up with that fugly slim ps3 i would never buy it. The ps2 looks more high tech than the leacked photos from the slim ps3. and again the ps3 is fuuuuuuuugly i would never buy it if they came with something like that....fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugly !

Foxconn? omg......get ready for a true playstation 360..

 

Foxconn is the OEM for the 360...if the ps3 slim is real and being manufactured by them, prepare for a substantial dip in quality and a true paperweight.

@7: The reason for the 360's problems were because of MS themselves not worrying about a problem they knew were there... Foxconn had nothing to do with that.

 

So other than the failure rate of 360's that they had nothing to do with, why should Foxconn be expected to produce low quality products?

foxconn did both. they manufactured certain parts for the ps3, 360, and ps2. i know cuz i did a project on that company

am i the only one who doesn't like rumors? knowing before hand wont really benefit those of us who already have one in any way and it takes away from the exciting suprise when it does get released.

i like psu for new updates but i dont like all of these rumors which kind of feel like they're spoiling a cool surprise.

why any of you care? You all should have a ps3, don't you? We all know that sony always releases a slim version so they can reduce costs and prices, but we all know that the versions that work the best are the big thick early models. I still got my ps2 working and it's one of the SCPH-30001

the bigger the better, first thing they remove when they release a slim version are the fans, so the console might get overheated.

also, if the slim ps3 is gonna look like those leaked pics, then it will look like a cheap piece of cr@p

get your real ps3 now while you still can in case you don't have one yet, if you do then why do you care about any new slim ps3?

@10 Seriously?.. bad, bad, terrible comprehension skills. Of course it didn't mean PS3 will be losing the BLU-RAY drive. It meant that since there were so many rumors about the PSP, and it was released, then PS3 slim will also be made...

Foxconn is actually a really great company who makes fine products. The reason behind the 360 failures is because of the engineering team at the Xbox division, not Foxconn.

if this is true i'm sure it's only going to be prototyped after all the first version of the PS3 was seen in 2005 and everyone made their comments about it so they took out 2 ethernet ports and an HDMI port so we lost the ability to be connectetd to 2 TVs at once and whatever use you'd have for 3 ethernet ports they even changed the controller back to the classic dualshock design beacuse apparentl i'm the only one who thought they looked cool fortunatly those changes apparently meant the console could sell for $200 less than it would have done guess we'll find out at TGS or next years GDC or E3 where again they'll be afraid of having nothing left to show
