During the CES 09 convention yesterday, Sucker Punch released two new gameplay videos for inFamous showcasing Cole's electrifying powers. It seems players will have quite a powerful arsenal of moves in inFamous, from throwing exploding globes of electricity to a force blow that sends cars and enemies into the air.

Check out the two gameplay trailers below.

inFamous is set to release sometime this Spring.

I want this game but kinda dont at the same time... not all that impressed. Think how boring that would get after a while. It would be about the same as messing around in gta 4. Who knows though. The climbing aspect seems pretty cool.

these enemies don't seem to stand a chance against this energy blast

its looks great and all but honestly, lightnings all the time? add some fireballs or at least a machinegun, if thats all you can do the whole game, a lot of ppl will get bored after a while.

@6, my thoughts exactly.  I got bored from the trailer, imagine if I was actually playing.  But if it's set to release "sometime" in Spring they still have plenty of time to make changes.

they talked about just focusing on only using one super power on x-play, and after watching thses trailers and the new prototype trailers, I have to agree with them.  the thought of being able to do a lot of different things is cool and all, but if it's not done right then it won't be any good.  with the lightning being his only ability that gives them room to make it really fun instead of dumbed down to make room for other powers.  I can't wait to see all the other cool lightning things you can do in the game, so far I've seen the regular attack, the force push attack, the shockwave when you hit the ground, those electrical grenade, and somehting else I can't really remember right now, anyway point is their is going to be a lot more different kinds of attacks and that will be very visually appealing I'm sure, can't wait! p.s. I really like how the tanker looks in the tunnel when he blows it up in the second trailer their, good stuff

Blahh.  I'm a heck of a lot more interested in prototype than this.  Everything about this game looks generic.  Never was in to Sly Cooper either.  Oh well.  Guess I'll have to wait and see.  It's too bad that things aren't the other way around with Prototype being a PS3 exclusive and Infamous being a multi-platform game.

im way more into prototype but im getting both

    • 4:28pm GMT - January 9th, 2009

who ever say this looks boring but say prototype looks better then you best to have a reason why because between the two infamous looks way better a man shapeshifting real original. prototype so far not my type of drink seeing a man run up a building with no problems dont do it for me.

  14. wiscfan23 | wiscfan23

    • 4:58pm GMT - January 9th, 2009

A lot of people are saying Prototype is better looking but the video i've seen looks all CG cutscene type.  Yeah that's going to look better.  About every time, except MGS4 of course.

i dunno but prototype looks more bada*s, but again they are the guys behind sly cooper so i still cant decide yet .damnit

    • 6:20pm GMT - January 9th, 2009

@6&7.... I TOTALLY agree, this game looks repetitive which will make people get bored very fast, the game is more like spider man with electricity.

This and prototype look pretty much the same. Only with different powers

  21. PS3lady

    • 9:45pm GMT - January 9th, 2009

#6 please.... if u have powers u don't need a gun.i like games where u have powers.guns are dumb im tired of shooter games.those games are so boring..if u ask me i would get bored if there was a gun involved.there are to many games with guns this is something new and i like it.

Prototype: main character can basically fly, shapeshift, surf on bodies, slice people in half, elbow drop on heavy artillery, hijack helicopters, and God knows what else...not to mention it looks like Spiderman's latest outing with dumbed down graphics...how challenging does Prototype look?...I'd get pretty bored with that game, seeing as how the guy's basically unstoppable...

inFamous has way better graphics, actual danger, a cover system, more in-depth gameplay and story, and the guy gets inventive with the ONE power he has...sounds a heck of a lot better as a game, if you ask me...

Looks like a lot of fun!

  24. Strudel | Strudel

    • 11:44pm GMT - January 9th, 2009

Wow lightening eh, haven't we had that before? you know... in a game called Bioshock, except in bioshock lightening attacks were just one of many.

As others have said, once you're over blowing stuff up it'll just become mind numbingly boring, like GTA4.

I sure hope there's a lot more to the game than what these trailers let on.

  25. SpiderPS3 | InvisiCobra

I agree with post number 16. I hope they add things to it to make it less repetitive. The whole idea behind the game is good though.

    One-dimensional gameplay much?

  28. A-eQuitas

    • 2:00am GMT - January 10th, 2009

Mhhm i think after one hour of spreading arround your blasts it becomes

boring. Hopefully the storyline is better than just jumping arround in the city and doing all the time the same things...

    • 2:17am GMT - January 10th, 2009

I am liking what they are showing but it is hard these days to justify a purchase without any type of online or offline multiplayer(though Uncharted was worth it).........looks much better than Prototype(looks very ps2 like, graphically and gameplay wise)

  30. PROTOTYPE

    • 7:06am GMT - January 10th, 2009

I also think the lightning only might start to feel repetetive quickly. I like this game better for the graphics/hud(or lack thereof) but I like Prototype better for its variety in gameplay. Oh well I guess that just means I'll have to go out and get both games... shucks!

I'm still not Impressed with this game,

I going to need to read some reviews for this game first, because I'm worried

The "Electric" will be the ONLY power you can have!

Which willl get boring after an hour..

If you're going to throw down $60 for a game, you'd better believe people are going to be picky and have high expectations.  With this new generation of gaming and production costs and technology, I would hope that they go out of their way to ensure that the game stands out both innovative/creatively and technologically speaking.  If this is going to be a console-defining game that is "supposedly" going to kill the xbox, then I'm really concerned for Sony's future.  Because, right now, this game looks like a watered-down, generic sandbox rehash of many games before.  When you compare it to the likes of other creative/innovative games like LBP and MGS4, it's kind of dissapointing.  Graphics are great and all but it doesn't make the game a must buy based on only that.  This game needs more variety, better main character design, and more innovative features that will show that the PS3 truly is the superior console.  If they change things in this game (which I don't thing will happen) then it could have potential.  Otherwise, I have no interest in purchasing this game just to support Sony as much as I would like to.

This game does not need a machine gun and Cole does not need weaponry like that.  There are too many games out right now like that.  I think that Infamous looks very good and I will be getting it.  Remember that this is a Sci-Fi title and I personally think that the lightning will not get repetitive but if it did then so what?  What game(s) out right now are NOT repetitive to some degree?

Yes ...  I came to know about inFamous but since then I have watched lot of videos of it and this game is looking really good. This game is a must buy for me.

@21 well yeah let the guns for the fps, but gta sa had guns and you can do a lot of things there, it was lots of fun. idk but honestly, only one power during the whole game? yeah the game looks awesome, a lot better than prototype, but we need some variety too. like spiderman 2, it wasnt about spiders web all the time, the acrobatic stuff and the large variety of fighting combos along with the upgrading system was a nice mix. @34 agree with you, we arent talking about some cents or somethings here, its $60 ppl, we demand good games, we demand quality, we demand fun. the game looks great, yeah its innovative, i just hope the upgrading of your powers system and the fighting system get some variety, like a lighting-melee mix or something

The game looks good graphically, and it looks to have a huge sense of scale to it. However, it doesn't interest me gameplay wise. It looks to be a little repetitive.

Game looks good I think you guys are being overcritical about it looking boring after awhile.  Its just a preview and looking at it they only used 1 skill im sure they packed him with 50 other nice ways to kill your enemies and enimes with much more skills.

people are smoking somthing if they see that this game is gonna flop, from what i see already i must have this game, the graphics is crisp the sound efx is crisp the controls seems to be very smooth not overwhelming. but i do think in the video they are showing you the early parts of the stage of the game hopfully when you go deeper you'll end up fighting somthing more powerful then these little humans there showing. Bigger Badder Enemys is what im looking for!
