UK survey points to possible paid PSN subscriptions

We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors and speculation about subscription-based features for the PlayStation Network. It appears Sony Europe is looking for some feedback from some of its UK PSN users through a survey. As reported over at Joystiq, surveys have circulated piquing interest about various ‘benefits’ that include early game access, free trials, and something called “catch-up TV.”

The fees associated with the different membership options appear to run between £2.99-£14.99, with annual fees at about a 55% discount. The fees would be associated with benefits like extended console warranties, ‘Token Wagering,’ member demo sharing of full games, Trophy alerts, and cloud storage space for games. We recently reported on Sony seeking a new trademark for what appears to be a cloud service. Perhaps we will hear more about all of this during Sony’s press conference today at CES.

We should be clear that there is no definite word from Sony about paid subscriptions for the PSN, but we have heard a lot about this possibility lately.

We’d like to hear from our readers who may have received (or will receive) this survey. Leave a comment below, or send us an email.
