Umbrella no longer the focus of Resident Evil

It seems as though it was only yesterday that the evil Umbrella Corporation was creating biochemical weapons that resulted in the destruction of Raccoon City back in 1998.

With the city a distant memory, Umbrella quickly fell from grace, eventually leading to the rise of Tricell Pharmaceutical Company and their prominent role within the franchise. Tricell's spot in the franchise was solidified in the CGI film Resident Evil: Degeneration, although we won't go into details on its involvement for those who have yet to see the film.

According to Chris Kramer, Capcom's Senior Director of Communications, the focus of the series will now move from Umbrella to their close competitor Tricell.

Of course, Kramer did not mention if Umbrella would make a re-emergence within Resident Evil or if the company had died completely, but we expect it to be the former.

Expect to have these questions and more answered once Resident Evil 5 ships for the PlayStation 3 on March 13.

I thought it was called the T-virus?  I'm not that up on RE so I could be, and probably am, wrong.

There is a T-virus but the G-virus is a stronger version of it. The way you can distinguish is that the G-virus signature is the giat eye on the shoulder. RE is evolving and i like the path Capcom is taking and it may lead back to where it once was. Just be grateful that its not the RE movies with the chick that plays Alice, a character that has nothing to do with RE

I really liked the first RE titles, I didn't get hooked with RE4, and RE5 it's the same as RE4 but with better graphics. I hope that Capcom introduce the zombies again.

Like the rest of the comments, bring back zombies, not this stupid alien paracite cr4p, just plain old reanimated corpses, they moan they groan they move slow and they die after eating all your ammo. Also if RE5 focuses on Tricell i wouldnt mind so long as its about bio wepons as apposed to cult mind controling bugs.

Althou I still play and enjoy Resident Evil at this present moment I agree that they should bring back Umbrella and the Zombies of Racoon City.... Resident Evil 1& 2 where the best for me.... Don't get me wrong RE4 was awesome and I'm sure 5 will be as well but I miss the days of Racoon City..... A remake of RE 1&2 on one Blu Ray will be AWESOME!!!!
