A lot of you have been wondering when Universal Studios was finally going to start releasing their titles in the Blu-ray disc format, well that question has been answered. Starting on July 22, Universal will start to release quite a few of their catalog titles, as well as prepare for the release of their five big movies set for box offices this summer.
These include: The Incredible Hulk, Wanted, Momma Mia, Hellboy II, and the new Mummy movie featuring Brendan Fraser and Jet Li. For those of you curious as to what will be hitting shelves on July 22, you can expect the Mummy Trilogy (which includes the Scorpion King).
In total, Universal plans to ship well over 40 titles before the end of 2008. This will definitely help the high-definition crowd expand their collections with an even greater selection of titles. With Universal being the main supporter of the HD DVD franchise, it's good to finally know the next generation of movie watching is officially kicking off at 100%

:)

HD-DVD Never had a chance. haha =)
YES!!! I want Scarface movie on Blu-Ray from universal. It's my favourite movie.
So this means Jurassic Park on Blu Ray!!!
Finally Universal gives in to the blu side!
Great news. I just packed away my old HD-DVD's and my HD-DVD add on today in the "junk" closet. Universal was the only reason I got the damn thing, Hopefully now we get to see Heroes on Blu-Ray! Thank you for finally joining the Blu camp, Universal.
Good job now we get jp

bluray is the best
It looks like July 22nd will be the offical starting date for my blu-ray collection. I think I have 5 now, but there are so many movies in the Universal tent that I want for next gen viewing. Its going to be a great summer!

They wouldnt bet on the winning horse but now theres only 1 horse in the race
SCARFACE FINALLY!!!!! but wat about paramount??? aren't they the producers of the Godfather trilogy?
@ revil2
they wont since MS believes Digital Downloads are the future
watch them sell more bluray titles of those than they did in HD DVD in no time. It's about time. I'm sure they won't be disappointed.

I have a feeling HD-DVD is gonna make a huge comeback in 09.
I can't wait for the bourne trilogy or transformers. I have been waiting for both of those for a long time. King Kong would also be great, but I am still waiting anxiously for new line to announce the lord of the rings trilogy.
Epic win. Transformers !
I was wondering when they would start anyway now I can watch The Mummy trilogy again
This is great. Hope they will release all seasons of Las Vegas on Bluray.
This is awesome. I hope they bring The Bourne series out. Awesome movies!
I'm looking forward to Land Of The Dead, and He77boy II which of course has to be released in theaters first. BTW - Transformers is a cool movie, but is Paramount not Universal.
Well, it's about time Universal has gone Blu-Ray because they've wasted enough time and money already.
I hope that they re-release some of the previous HD-DVD movies like King Kong and Transformers on Blu-Ray. I already have the standard DVD copy of Transformers, but I would love a Blu-Ray copy.
I really could care less about any of these movies. Now when Paramount starts talking Transformers on blu-ray, then I will get excited.
Jurassic Park Trillogy FTW! :)
wooooooooooo nice Universal welcome to the blue side wooooooooooo HD-DVD doesnt have a chance at all I bought the HD-DVD so that i could save it for the future hahahah so noone will have one ill be happy with it anyways.
@taurus82 - Was joking :)
Am I the only one who hadn't heard about the new Mummy movie? As soon as I get my Sharp 37" 1080p TV, I'll start my Blu-ray collection. Eh, maybe I'll wait for another Blu-ray sale from Amazon.
Transformers is Paramount, innit? Not universal, therefore until Paramount sign over no transformers on blu-ray
Not sure what took them so long! What choice did they have after the HD-DVD meltdown?
I REEEEEAAAALLLY want Transformers. Come on Paramount!
Anyone seen the HD-DVD drive for the 360 in argos, its now only £34.99, how funny, and im sooo glad i stuck it out and waited for the Blu.
