It should come as no surprise that The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be making its way to Blu-ray, the victor of the format war, yet the announcement still sends scintillating shivers down my spine. Peter Jackson, director of the trilogy, recently revealed the existence of the LOTR Blu-ray when discussing the upcoming Hobbit film.

"We are working on a Blu-ray version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy with Warner Bros at the moment, not sure when it is due for release. It certainly won't be this year."

So there you have it, official confirmation from the horse's mouth. We'll keep you posted on when you'll be able to acquire the one Blu-ray to rule them all.

    Im a big kid at heart and I have three kids of my own so how about toy story and some of the classic cartoons like tom and jerry and tail spin. Some of you might not know about that, that was early 90s. Some of you were babys. Dont get it wrong im only 25.

     @I95South

    i'm 25 too and i grew up with those cartoons also. those were the days bro. Darkwing duck and s***. tale spin, and Duck Tales with scrooge mcduck, all after school. Ghostbusters back in the late 80s was huge for me.

    It would be wise for them to re-think thier release schedule for this title as Blu-Ray will not hold at the current prices on the retail market forever! No I would say this coming holiday season would be the right time before Blu-Ray retail prices drop in 2009 :).

     I think I know why it won't be this year.  If you remember, they released the DVD's just 2 months before each new movie would come out.  I hope they don't wait until 2010 to release the trilogy on Blu-Ray though.  I want these SOOOO bad!  Next up....where's Star Wars?

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

    And screw Star Wars.  That crap is dead.  4 and 5 were the only good ones.  ROTJ just gets shoe-horned in because it has all the resolution from the "first two".  The prequels are abominations...yeah, episode III as well.
