Survey reveals PS3 is 'teen favourite'

Sony’s PlayStation 3 videogames system has been voted the “console choice for teens” following a Global Youth Survey conducted by Habbo.
A total of 58,486 individuals aged between 11-18 spanning 31 markets took part in the survey, of which 69 per cent labelled the PS3 as either ‘good’ or ‘great’. The Wii followed with 64 per cent and the Xbox 360 at 58 per cent.
PS3 was favoured in every category other than 11-12 year olds, where Nintendo’s Wii came out on top and proved more popular with girls up to the age of 16, becoming the “favoured female choice overall.”
Survey organisers commented: "The results of this survey are interesting as it gives us an insight into which brands these teens aspire to as the level of ownership does not correspond to the consoles' popularity.”
24 per cent of teens asked owned a Wii, with 21 per cent owning a PS3, and 23 per cent possessing an Xbox 360. Furthermore, 20 per cent are planning on buying one of the three consoles in the future, with Wii and PS3 the most popular candidates.
The report added: "As Sony and Xbox strive to broaden their console's appeal, from hardcore to casual gamer, the results of the survey seem to indicate that gender, not previous gaming experience, determines console choice. Regardless of their level of interest towards gaming boys prefer the PS3 and girls prefer the Wii."

I'm 28 and I won't dare trade my 60gb ps3 for anything in the world!, I guess girls generaly prefere wii coz it's main public is casual gamers, sorry but I truely think guy's are more hardcore gamers than girls, don't see many of them standing in line at midnight to get thier hand's on a brand new ps3, lol! I'd like to see how many girls out there play on games like cod4!

31 and my son 11 loves the ps3. My wife sometimes but she leans more towards teh wii cause she says the control scheme is easier

I'm 33, and personally it wasn't a hard decision for me on which one to purchase. Why would you even bother with a 360....old technology, non-existent quality control from M$ (hence very high failure rates). I can understand the Wii having support from the younger crowd, I'm still considering one for my 5 year old, but you can't beat the PS3 for the total package. I was looking at Blu-ray players the other day and they are still running right under the $500 mark (in Canada).

We have some pretty old people on this site (J/K)! It is cool though to see people (teens) starting to appreciate what the ps3 has to offer.

Agreed. Friend and family that are women love the Wii. I am a PS fanatic at the ripe age of 31. Luckly I found a wife that likes the PS3 (and SSDHD) too. I think we both grew up with Sony devices in our lives so.. Sony or Microsoft? Hmm. Not a tough decision! ;)
