Mafia II And Mafia III PS5 Listings Appear On ESRB Hinting At Impending Native 60 FPS Ports

The Entertainment Rating Software Board (ESRB) has posted up listings for Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition, suggesting native PS5 versions of the mobster games are on the horizon.

As previously reported, Mafia: Definitive Edition was rated by the ESRB for PS5 and within 24 hours we got an official announcement that the game would be coming to Sony’s current-generation system. It formed part of the newly-released Mafia: The Omerta Collection, although Mafia II and Mafia III did not receive the same performance enhancements as the first game. However, with this latest rating, that looks set to change.

Both Mafia II and Mafia III are currently locked to 30 FPS on the PS5, so fans were understandably disappointed when the first Mafia received the frame rate boost when it was released back in August. The ESRB has obviously proven extremely reliable in outing upcoming titles, so expect a formal reveal soon enough.

Mafia II was originally released in 2010 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. The game take place during 1945 — 1951 in the fictional city of Empire Bay, and follows war veteran and Sicilian-American mobster, Vito Scaletta, as he becomes embroiled in a power struggle between the city’s Mafia crime organisations as he attempts to pay back his father’s debuts.

Mafia III followed for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in June 2016, and sees players controlling Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay in 1968 New Bordeaux, who is forced to turn to a life of crime to help settle issues with the local branch of the Mafia and his adoptive family.
