Kojima's new mission is 'the next MGS'

Speaking at the Game Developers Conference yesterday, veteran game designer Hideo Kojima all but confirmed that his studio is working on a new title in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Kojima spoke in his keynote about the various hurdles he’s over come in the popular stealth-action series – or “missions” as he described them – before bringing things to a close with the final mission, “The Next MGS."

Elaborating, Kojima revealed that he wants to tackle this particular project using a combination of both Japanese and western development philosophies, describing his own method as design-led, as opposed to the western approach, which he views as being led by software technology.

Furthermore, with Kojima Productions hiring at GDC, the Metal Gear creator welcomed developers in attendance at the show to challenge his ‘old style’ approach if they think they have what it takes to work for the studio.

Still, it’s worth remember this wasn’t an outright confirmation of a new MGS game, so for now keep your fingers crossed and hope Kojima divulges more info at this year’s E3 convention.

I tought that Kojima didn't want to do another MGS , that he add a more personal and unusual game that he wanted to work on . Seems like he's gonna have to wait a little longer before he can finaly turn the page of the MGS franchise .

i hope there isnt another MGS, i love the franchise but MGS4 was the end, i hope its a new ZoE game or a new IP, and if its a new MGS, hopefully it will be better than MGS4 or the others.

Good news. MGS is one of the best games for PS3. But they shouldnt hype up a game (MGS4) as being the "last one" if it isnt.

That Good 2 hear but mmmm. I think "Raiden" who gona be the new character thinck about it in MGS4 he showen as a ninja so the could use his abilities (as a ninja) in the next MGS.

If they do make another MGS, it better be for PS3 only! We want the same quality we got with the first one, we don't want a gimped MGS, because it's on the 360 too.

Metal Gear..

It should be a new Metal Gear, as mentioned, let Snake rest. Start a new saga, plan it all out. Maybe in the 2nd or 3rd outing, bring a quick entrance of Old Snake.. Make the series intertwin in the slightest...

The possibilities are endless..
