If you are looking to see Kratos on the PlayStation 3 before 2010, you will soon have a chance to play through the first two games before the upcoming God of War III. Sony announced today that it will release the God of War Collection this Holiday season for the PS3. The God of War Collection features reworked versions of both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray Disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution.
Both games, originally released on the PlayStation 2, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second. Fans of the series can also look forward to newly added Trophy support included in both games.
“We are excited today to announce God of War Collection,” said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America. “Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected.”
If you own a PS3 and haven’t played through any of the God of War games, this Collection is the perfect way to introduce you to the mythical world of Kratos. Selling for $39.99 USD, it’s a heck of a deal to get both games on one disc. Even if you own both games, it’ll be great to see all the action in full resolution.

Wow, brilliant. They should re-master more Ps2 games so people without BC can play them on Ps3. Brilliant idea.

I have never played the God of War series and have been very intrigued by the new GOW 3 coming out soon, and this is an awesome way for me to finally play through the first 2 games in the series. Buying them used would cost me around $30 on the PS2 discs, so to get both on one Blu-Ray is gonna be sweet.
