Game of the Month: November 2009

November ’09 has proved yet another stellar month for PlayStation 3 owners, offering up a plethora of gaming greats spanning a diverse range of genres. Whether you’re the casual sort or the more discerning player, there’s been something for everyone.
As such, deciding on a recipient for our Game of the Month accolade has proven quite the task this time around, as quite frankly for the first time in months we’ve been utterly spoilt for choice. From the stealthy antics of Assassin’s Creed II to the sprawling RPG shenanigans of Dragon Age: Origins, November has churned out more than its fair share of worthy competitors, providing one of the healthiest periods in gaming this year.
Ultimately, however, we plumped – perhaps unexpectedly – for Infinity Ward’s stellar shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We heaped praise on it in our review, but for good reason; packed full of explosive set pieces, sumptuous visuals, a meaty multiplayer component and a gripping (if oh-too-short) campaign mode, Modern Warfare 2 raises the benchmark for first-person shooters and remains, unequivocally, one of the greatest games we've played in years, let alone this month.

i think this was fairly expected psu. i dont think you gave any other game 9.5 this month and im pretty sure mw2 will be game of the month for almost all websites. see if uncharted 2 and this were released in the same month, then there is a tough choice. anyways i dont disagree with your choice. its a fantastic game.

I do disagree. I truly dont see anything that new or special about MW2. I like the game but it doesnt have any wow factor to it IMO. That said though what else was out in November that was better?

Have too disagee here, I think Assassin's creed 2 is the best game in November.

Expected,but not deserving,you guys chose MW2 over Dragon Age Origins,the game that has FINALLY rejuvinated the RPG genre,Dragon Age Origins IS the game that has finally captured the magnitude of the classic RPGs like Secret Of Mana,FFIV,FFV etc.and you guys "plumped" for a game that pretty much updated it's prequel in a few areas(which funnily enough doesn't include the GFX),and what ever happened to your Assassin's Creed II review,isn't it 'bout time?Seriously disappointed with you PSU...

I am loving MW2 at the moment and because I wasn't online with COD4, it has a bit of a wow factor so I'd choose if for game of the month. However I don't think it raises the bar for FPS, more like they lowered it a bit after Killzone 2. GOTY = Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2.

It was obvious that you would choose MW2 just like every other gaming site. For me this month was all about AC2 i mean even Dragon Age was nothing new it was a lot like older games but not as good (it should of either given you full control or allow you to play like KOTOR and if any rpg actually progressed the genre it was Demons Souls which is my GOTY) i havnt even beaten it yet do to its only decent story. AC2 is what a sequel should be it upgraded every part of the game from the story to the Parkour itself and the end left me really excited for AC3. (or some dlc) The largest complaint i had with the original MW was that the story was told horribly and from what others have said it appears that that hasnt changed. So what i'm really trying to say is you should of chosen
AC2 since it actually does way more than the original. -

I agree with # 8.........MW 2 is a great game, but I shouldn't have gotten caught up in all of its hype because I lefted me disappointed (to the point that I don't play it that much)........Uncharted should definetly be game of the year; it deserves it. It is waaaaaaaay more fun and engaging....Same goes for Killzone 2.......UC2 & KZ2 > MW2

never ever that i would pick MW2 for game of the month, even though i got the prestige edition, the game it self never got in line with killzone 2 for example. but i expected that, because the first game was under my expectations. so my game of the month will be assassins creed 2 :P

Have to disagree, dont get me wrong though but while MW2 is a good game in its own respect it felt too much like CoD4 V2 imo with barely any new innovative features and a massive overhype
IMO Dragon Age or Assasins Creed should have got Game of the Month

I can't believe MW2 is getting this much attention. The graphics are midiocre compared to so many other games I've been playing. The control scheme is alright and the game isn't bad, but I just downloaded the demo for Battlefield 2: Bad Company and had way more fun with that game than MW2. I still love KZ2 more than any of the other FPS games available on the PS3 but I can't wrap my head around the fact that everyone loves this game so much.
