Rob Nelson, Head of Development at Rockstar North, has revealed to The New York Times that Grand Theft Auto VI players can expect to put around 80 hours into the game’s main story.
Nelson revealed that his own playthrough of GTA VI took about 80 hours, of which included the main narrative and some “optional goals with narrative ramifications.” He added, “I hope that there will be people that want to get up, have a cup of coffee, shower, get dressed, go out for a little exercise. Interact with some people, explore, maybe get into some trouble. Rob some places, make some money.”
There’s been a massive blowout of GTA VI info overnight following the Netflix’s ‘An Extended Look’ feature, which offered the first proper look at the game in action. Nelson has also been revealing various details to outlets that have visited Rockstar North HQ, including confirmation that GTA VI will run at 30 FPS on launch and will not feature any microtransactions or generative AI.
Grand Theft Auto VI is due out on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
