Sony Santa Monica has moved to reassure punters that they haven’t seen the last of God of War, despite the fact the developer is wrapping up the trilogy with Kratos’ eagerly anticipated third outing this spring.
Speaking to the chaps at Gamervision, director of product development at Sony Santa Monica John Hight commented, “This is not the end of God of War.”
“This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God of War games.”
“We’re going to be very careful about what we do; we’re the keepers of the franchise and we don’t want to see it ruined or polluted,” he continued.
Encouraging news – we certainly can’t get enough of the lovable slap head and his Blades of Athena. Keep your eyes peeled for more God of War news in the coming weeks.

So basically expect the eding of God of War 3 to be a Soppranos style fade to black. God I hate it when they do.......

Most likely prequels or something like that. I think that GOW3 will be the "end" of the story, but not the last game that is released.

Not interested in any more GOW games unless they add more RPG elements. As far as I'm concerned, they wasted an EPIC opportunity to make an incredible RPG series that would have taken the crown from Final Fantasy with one unforgettable game. Instead, they took the easy way out and made a game (several, actually) for the ADD. GOW is the MW2 of action beat-'em-ups. Seen one, seen them all.

My guess is future GoW games will follow Kratos' brother. His troubled past is briefly illustrated in a bonus video from the collection, and was a bonus video in one of the original games I believe. Or a totally new character would be a nice change, set in Ancient Egyptian times.

I'd say a prequel is likely, as are spin offs.
@9: I prefer RPGs to other genres as well, but I think that this is way better as a beat em up. You are right when you're saying that it's not much different from other slashers, but that's just the way it is. Also, in defense of the greatness that FF has achieved (and is now looking to forfeit ;) ) no one game can ever take that.

I LOVE God of War but I never buy it. It's WAY too short to be bought for the full price of a game. A game needs to last me for at least 50 hours and playing through it on normal mode and then the highest difficulity + some challenges (like challenge of Hades or something in Chains Of Olympus for the PSP game of GoW). It IS a good game and I'm definitely fine with more awesome rental games for me. But this is just my 2 cents about GoW though :P
