SF x Tekken is competition, not collaboration, says Tekken creator

Tekken series creator Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that he doesn’t view the upcoming crossover fighters Street Fighter x Tekken/Tekken x Street Fighter as a collaboration, but instead as a competition between two classic beat ‘em up franchises.
“The Street Fighter and TEKKEN development teams have a great relationship. However, I see this new project not as a collaboration, but as the competition of the century between two legendary fighting game franchises," commented Harada.
"The ultimate dream match-up is about to be realized. With this astonishing collaboration, a new chapter in fighting game history begins."
Both games (one based in the Tekken universe, the other based in Street Fighter’s world) were unveiled for the first time at Comic-Con this past weekend, where Harada demoed Ryu and Chun-Li squaring up against Kazuya and Nina.
“This is history we're making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn't just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games Inc., so I'm going to give it my all,” added Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono.
Unfortunately, it’ll be a while before punters will be able to get their mitts on the games, as they won’t be out until around 2012.

2D fighters are so simple and boring and they're all the same. Street Fighter VS Tekken will be just like every other 2D "VS" game that crapcom pumps out with nothing but pathetic turtle fights. HADOKEN HADOKEN HADOKEN.
Tekken VS Street Fighter might be cool, though I'd rather see Tekken VS Mortal Kombat or better yet, Mortal Kombat VS Soul Calibur. Y'know, games where all the characters AREN'T the same.

@ 13 what is with you people and mortal kombat. the only good ones were the old 2d ones and this one coming out now looks alright. MK would NOT make a good mash-up side. their characters arent cool enough. meh. plus its an american fighter... double meh. kung lao is pretty dope tho lol

@ 15
The old Mortal Kombat games are crap. Deadly Alliance was the best MK game ever made. All 2D fighters are depthless crap. MK would make a great mash-up. Their characters aren't cool enough? Are you kidding me? MK has some of the coolest characters out of any video game. Street Fighter on the other hand has nothing but generic Japanese archetypes with no originality like Ryu, while the rest are just completely retarded. Being an American fighter makes it bad? Kung Lao is the only cool character (an asian)? Well you've just ruled out any possibility of having a valid opinion by revealing to the world that you're a japanophile/weeaboo.

@18 haha ok lass. settle down there lmao i thought we were entitled to our opinions here. at any rate i definitely dont like kung lao or street fighter because theyre asian. lmao japanophile? says the guy with grey fox and sephiroth back to back in his profile pic. lmao contradition of themes there dont you think. the moves arent flashy enough to keep up with the likes of tekken or sf. that would be an insta pwn haha. btw ryu pretty much created the japanese archetype of a fighting protagonist. everything else that followed his inception took from his inital get up. do research. and deadly alliance was the worst mk imo. i bought it and traded it back within the same week. biggest waste of money lol the new mortal kombat looks interesting though.
