Developer Ninja Theory has spilled the beans on its ambitions for upcoming stylish action romp DmC: Devil May Cry, stating the firm wants to “up the stakes” when it comes to crafting the game’s storyline.
Speaking during an interview with NowGamer, Tameen Antoniades touched on how the firm’s past experience with Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West has allowed the studio to tackle new avenues and as a result has given the team the confidence to take things to the next stage with Capcom's much-loved franchise.
“Yeah there’s loads of stuff. I mean, we’ve tackled a lot of gameplay areas we’ve never tackled before. In terms of thinking about the world and story, as well as making sure that the world and story are consistent early on. I guess Enslaved’s given us enough confidence that we can use storytelling well in games, so I’d like to go deeper and more mature in the storytelling stakes."
"We’d like to up the stakes, go deeper into characters, create a world that’s more believable. Even though it’s fantasy, it should have consistency. We obviously now know more about Unreal engine and how to exploit that. Our goal is always to get better and better at what we do,” he added.
Ninja Theory attracted a fair chunk of criticism from gamers regarding Dante’s controversial new look for DmC following its unveiling at the Tokyo Game Show last month. However, the studio recently revealed that series creator Capcom gave its blessing for the developer to “go crazy” with the demon slayer’s fresh design.
DmC: Devil May Cry is currently in the works for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. A release date has yet to be announced.

Being given permission by Capcom to "go crazy" doesn't inspire much confidence, at least where I'm concerned.

To me, this is NT's last chance to show me they can make a fun game. HS looked good, but was a pain to play at times. Enslaved just seems boring, but I need to finish it to see if it gets better.

How about upping the stakes in terms of gameplay? You know,,,, like what true DMC fans are interested in? Oh yeah, that's beyond your abilities. I wanted a bayonetta beater, not another enslaved with the dmc name attacted.

I just want to know who the heck keep given NT all this confidence. Is there millions of anonymous gamer out there that email them praise for Heavenly Sword and Enslaved that the rest of us don't know about?
I think NT is in their own little world.
@3
LOL for real.
