Ubisoft Boss Says Watch Dogs Is Still ‘Important’ To The Company, But A New Game Isn’t Currently In The Works

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, has revealed during a meeting with investors earlier this month that the Watch Dogs franchise still remains an ‘important’ IP for the company, but even so we shouldn’t expect a new entry in the series anytime soon.

“It is not expected to be put in a creative house for the moment, before it’s potentially remade,” said Guillemot, via translation. He also noted that the brand is nonetheless important to Ubisoft, although that’s about all he would offer on the matter. Note his phrasing seems to imply a Watch Dogs remake, but this could be a translation error, so don’t take it at face value.

Back in March, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson revealed on the site’s podcast that a Director’s Cut release of Watch Dogs Legion is in the pipeline, stating that he’s heard Ubisoft was undertaking new motion capture work at the time. Nothing official has been announced by Ubisoft, however.

Watch Dogs Legion was released on October 29, 2020 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and also received PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions following the release of Sony and Microsoft’s new systems the following month. You can read our full review of Watch Dogs Legion here.
