Supermassive Games, the studio behind The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, has reportedly laid off 70 staff members.
That’s at least according one staff member at the team, who revealed that the job losses encompass a range of areas including developers, artists, producers, and a number of Supermassive Games’ leadership team. Back in August this year, the studio announced that it was beginning a redundancy consultation process that would result in up to 75 job losses.
“More than 70 brilliant people are leaving Supermassive: developers, artists, producers, QA, operations and more. Any studio would be lucky to have them. If you’re hiring, DM me and I’ll make the introduction,” wrote Frank Tindle, a former IT and Facilities Director on LinkedIn.
Supermassive Games’ most recent title was The Dark Pictures: Directive 8020, which launched for the PS5 in May 2026. You can read our full review here. The next chapter in The Dark Pictures series was teased during Directive 8020 as has been the case with previous entries in the anthology series, and is believed to be titled The Craven Man – nothing official has been announced yet, however.
