New Rock Band DLC will only work with Rock Band 3

Harmonix has announced that all downloadable content for Rock Band released after October 26, 2010 will only be compatible with the third instalment in the music simulation franchise.

Apparently, future DLC won’t be backwards compatible with Rock Band 1 & 2 "due to the new authoring standards, inclusion of new instruments, new lighting / venue cues, etc".

Previous DLC will still work with earlier titles in the series, as will all previous and future endeavours on the Rock Band Network.

What;s the point of buying it. It's like buying a playstation 3 slim and founding that it can't play playstation 1- 2 games

@1 As good as that comment is, it's actually the opposite - it's like expecting ps3 games to work on ps1&2

@Bigjay - ryan_custard13 is correct. This is what the article is trying to say: All previous DLC will work with Rock Band 3. All DLC released as of October 26th will not work with Rock Band 1 or Rock Band 2.
