SSX reboot 'bigger than all other SSX games combined'

SSX creative director Todd Batty reckons the upcoming snowboarding reboot is bigger than all other titles in the franchise combined in terms of the number of tracks on offer.

Chatting with CVG, Batty also dropped a few tasty morsels regarding the influences behind some of SSX’s trademark components, citing everything from Burnout to, bizarrely, Plants vs. Zombies.

“I think the size and scope of our world and the number of tracks is an order of magnitude bigger. I think our game is bigger than all the other SSX games combined, in terms of levels and tracks you can ride,” he said.

Borderlands also played its part in influencing the game’s items collection, with EA Canada also doffing its cap to Call of Duty: Black Ops in the shape of SSX’s global events.

“We looked at the procedurally generated weapons and we thought, we could do that with snowboards,” pointing to the “literally millions” of gear available for purchase at the in-game store.

SSX is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on February 28, and hits Europe on March 2.
