Dragon's Dogma 'can absolutely sell a million units'

Capcom is understandably eager for its upcoming new IP Dragon’s Dogma to set tills alight come its May 2012 launch, and feels the game can easily shift one million copies in its native Japan.

Producer Hideaki Itsuno told VideoGamer.com that while confident of the game’s sales in its home country, worldwide success is not so easily attainable – something he feels is why some developers are hesitant about going global.

"I don't know if other Japanese developers are trying to become more global, but I know we definitely are," Itsuno said.

"It's difficult, because we really want this game to sell 10 million units worldwide. We want to sell a lot, and that's just something that we think we can do. We're not positive [it will be a success]. Of course it's a risk, but that's what we want - a challenge."

"But in Japan, we can absolutely sell a million units. We know that's attainable, it's absolutely do-able. We have a kind of assurance that that will happen, but for worldwide that's not so much the case, and I think that's why a lot of Japanese developers are hesitant about going global. It's because they don't have that assurance that it'll be successful,” he added.

Dragon’s Dogma is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, and takes place in a sprawling fantasy-inspired world ripe with content, where players can enjoy up to 100 hours worth of gameplay.

They have my support .. ireally like the mechanics, combat and ideas in this game (the pawns system, the epic monsters, the ability to climb enemies, the character/pawn creation options .. etc etc).

I juut hope the overall experaince is polished enough to stay enjoyable all the way through.

Well they have my support I like rpg games that have a heavy focus on real time combat, with a party, that doesn't magically teleport you to a random arena just to fight in.

The way I see it, it's like 1 of my fav. games(X-Men Legends) but way more grand in scale. Seems just a lil' weak in story but I can look over that.

I know besides their fighting games capcom has been letting us ps3 owners down all generation but I'm going to check out this new IP, it looks amazing.
