ORIGINAL: Here at PSU Towers, we often daydream about the best PlayStation 3 games we've ever played. We started the Ultimate PS3 Showdown with the single goal of deciding which PS3 game is the very best, the most magnificent title to grace our favorite console. To do that, we put the power in your hands. After all, who better to choose the best PS3 game ever than the original PlayStation community - the dedicated readers, forum members, and superfans of PlayStation Universe?
We have never been closer than at this moment.
Eight games remained at the start of Round 3, but only four could move on. And now, after three grueling rounds of debate, passionate allegiance, and voting, we have arrived at the Final Four. Below, you'll see PS3's very best games, the cream of the crop, as decided by the PSU community.
Now, the real fun begins.
Two weeks ago, we asked you to submit your predictions for the Final Four, Championship Round, and Champion of our Ultimate PS3 Showdown. We promised that the winner - he or she who picked the most correct games - would win a PS3 game or pre-order of their choice. That promise hasn't changed. A brand-new PS3 game is on the line, and only one person will claim it. With the Final Four decided, entry scoring has already begun. Here's how it works:
Contest entrants shall receive:
-1 point each for correctly guessing the games that advanced to the Final Four
-2 points each for correctly guessing the games that advance to the Championship Round
-4 points for correctly guessing the Champion
Ties will be decided via random number generator.
Voting for the Final Four will commence on Monday morning, August 6, at approximately 8 AM ET. The voting period will last until Wednesday morning, August 8, at approximately the same time. The next day, voting will begin for the Championship Round to decide the Best PS3 Game of All Time. You don't want to miss this.
So, take a look at your Round 3 winners - the Final Four - below, and take some time this weekend to think carefully and reflect on which games deserve your vote. We want each match-up to have meaning, to carry weight, and that can only happen with thoughtful decisions.

i stopped voting after the first round! gow 3 beats red dead AND demon's souls? you have to be kidding me, both those games plus arkham city are more deserving of a final four spot,awful bracketology!!!

@1 - So you gave up just because the games you like didn't win? Stop being such a child. Not everyone has the same opinion as you, God of War III beat Red Dead Redemption and Demon's Souls fair and square. More people preferred it. Get over it.
@2 - Although I agree with the first part of what you said, I don't believe God of War III is the best game of this generation, I'll be surprised if it wins this.
@5 - People voted for the games they preferred, you can't prove that the games in the finals are a result of bias. There's no evidence that the other games didn't get into the finals just because they weren't exclusive. People just preferred these games. I'm fed up with people assuming that games got far simply because they're exclusive. They're better games, people prefer them more. Get over it.

People who assumed that these games won because they are exclusives are idiots. How did Portal 2 beat Killzone 2? How did Skyrim beat Uncharted 3? How did Fifa 12 beat MLB 12? It's because people thought they were better games. And as much as I loved Uncharted 3 I was one of the people that voted for Arkham City. And I picked Arkham City as one of my top four.

@7 My sentiments exactly; I was even going to allude to those examples myself. The PlayStation exclusives generally won because they tend to be of better quality. That isn't true 100% of the time, but in most cases, it is. People just preferred the PlayStation exclusives, it's a fact, that doesn't mean it was a direct result of bias.

@6-Calm down, I was simply expressing my view on what i think was true, I was going to vote the final four all ps3 exclusives,but why?Because i knew people were going to vote for ps3 games,they even admitted that the best ps3 game of all time should be a ps3 exclusive,it's called the best ps3 game of all time,not the best game of all time.

I like how @2 calls @1 a pretentious philistine (which in itself is a pretentious thing to say because it assumes GOW is "art", but i doubt @2 even realizes how to use it in correct context), only to then spew out his opinion like its fact. Hypocritical much? Sounds like @2 is just as much as an opinionated, pretentious [insert unrelated "big" word] as he says @1 is.

@9 - Apologies if I came across as abrupt, but I was just expressing my feelings in general: I can't stand people complaining about the success of PS3 exclusives in this competition and putting it down to bias. There's nothing biased about such games doing well if people honestly do enjoy them. But, some people (not necessarily you) don't accept that, and get all aggy over the fact that the games they like don't do particularly well and complain that the exclusives do. Well, people prefer the PS3 exclusives, they need to get over that fact. I don't believe the best PS3 game of all time should be exclusive, it's just that it's kind of natural that it is. I understand there were people saying the final should only be between PS3 exclusives, and I don't necessarily agree with that - who cares if the game isn't exclusive to the platform, as long as it's a good game - but, overall, it's only natural that an exclusive does win, because exclusives tend to be superior due to being tailored the PS3. After all, if a multiplatform title is proclaimed as being better by the general community, then what hope do exclusive developers have?
And one more thing, I'm fed up with people taking the title of Ultimate PS3 Game Showdown a little too literally. Just because PS3's in the title, doesn't mean it has to be PS3 exclusive games in the competition. The fact that this isn't called the Ultimate Game Showdown is invalid; having PS3 in the title doesn't mean only exclusives are included, it merely means that Xbox/PC exclusives aren't. Ultimate PS3 Game Showdown means any game that appears on the PS3, whether it's exclusive or not. If people would rather this be called an Ultimate Game Showdown, then Xbox/PC games would need to be included as well. This is not an Ultimate PS3 Exclusive Game Showdown. If people can't get their head around that, then I suggest this be referred to as the Ultimate Non-Exclusive PS3 Game Showdown.
(If that's still too difficult to comprehend, then Ultimate Game-That-Appears-On-The-PS3-But-Isn't-Necessarily-Exclusive Showdown may be necessary)

I understand, i've played all of the final four games and i've loved them all,i'm not saying they don't deserve to be their i'm just stating what i saw,people voting for games they didn't even play just because it was a ps3 exclusive.

@13-I do know though, i saw plenty of people posting comments like that,one example was, "I didn't play arkham city so i vote for uncharted 3".So then why did that person vote?

@15 - That means nothing. Read that example again: "I didn't play Arkham City so I voted for Uncharted 3." That person isn't saying that they're voting for Uncharted 3 because it's exclusive. They're voting for it because they didn't play the other game - there's a difference! I understand your concern, and I am aware that there were some people that voted for a game because it was exclusive, but that doesn't represent everyone; and voting for a game because they didn't play the other is a different matter entirely. That problem is present in all the match-ups, not just the ones involving exclusives. The exclusives got far because they're good games, not purely because of their exclusivity alone.
I do agree, there are some people voting a game just because it's exclusive, but you can only tell whether or not that's an individual's reason for certain if they openly admit to it, and even then that is the small minority of people.

@6 - Can you do me a favor and point out where in my post i said i LIKE any of those games? I didn't say GOW 3 is a bad game either, I played all and enjoyed all. I just can't see how the 3rd of a series of hack and slash games can be in the final four over games like those i mentioned. More people preferring something doesn't actually make it better, but clearly I'm a child so what do I know? I'll grow up and be like you one day.

@19 - OK, I made the assumption that you liked those games, so that was my mistake. Regardless, you were getting aggy over the fact that a game won over others that you didn't necessarily want to win. Yes, God of War III is the third of a series, but so what? More people preferred it over its competitors. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the fourth in a series and beat Borderlands, I don't see anyone complaining about that. You're right, more people preferring something doesn't make it better; but, in the majority of people's opinions, it is better. And therefore, in this situation, it was enough for it to win. I called you a child because it came across that you were getting annoyed that the game you wanted to win didn't. This is a competition to find out what is the best game, based on the majority's opinion. That doesn't meanit's definitively the best game ever, as everyone's opinion will vary, but there's no reason for anyone to boycott this just because the games they want to do well or win certain match-ups don't.
