Ted Price hints that Insomniac could return to Resistance

Ted Price is surely a man with very little to lament; his development studio Insomniac Games has developed three multi-million-selling franchises on PlayStation platforms. The most recent, Resistance, saw its supposed conclusion last year with Resistance 3.

While Nihilistic Software has since continued the saga with midquel Resistance: Burning Skies on PlayStation Vita, many believed that Insomniac was finished with their first-person-shooter epic. Heck, Insomniac said as much earlier this year. Now, it seems that may not be the case.

Answering a fan question about his favorite scrapped weapon from the Ratchet & Clank series, Price spoke instead about his favorite unreleased Resistance weapon, The Tapper. After describing how the weapon would've tapped enemies for blood much like maple trees are tapped for sap, Price finished by saying, "Maybe someday." That statement seems innocuous at first glance, but remember - Price himself stated earlier this year, "We won’t be making any more Resistances."

Have Price and Insomniac changed their minds on the future of Resistance? Will Insomniac be stepping back to continue the series on PS3, Vita, or even PlayStation 4? Will we ever get to use The Tapper and drain blood like it's going out of style!? Give us these answers and more in the comments below.

No sounds like it might be used in another game. Face it they are done with resistance no matter how much it sucks that they are moving on.

Well if OverStrike flops they're gonna need something, EA probably won't give them another chance.

Resistance was full of potential, but certain design choices prevented it from hitting its mark.

Meh. Burning Skies flopped. This series isn't coming back.

IMO Insoniac was foolish to walk away from this franchise to begin with.

Resistance 3 is EPIC! Great game! Why would he bring up the Resistance franchise at all, by all accounts he did not want to talk about resistance anymore when he made the annoucement they were done with the franchise.

Ya I think that sony might be talking to Insomniac about a Resistance 4. Resistance 3 has sold over a million copies from its slow start.Maybe there contract with sony was over with Resistance 3. These statements about Price saying we will not do anymore resistance games could be a move to get sony to come to them and renew there contract with insomniac. Also all developers haft to be mum on new systems and projects. Resistance 4 could be in the works for PS4 or in talks. I think Mr Price and Insomniac are making a mistake by stepping away from the resistance series. To put all there efforts into the ip overstike is a mistake. I know they have alot of other games they work on. I just dont think overstrike will be a huge success.Overstrike has gone over budget and has been delayed and Insomniac might be thinking about going back to resistance for some more support from a giant like sony.Sony has deep pockets and will pay them for a resistance 4. Insomniac might need this cash more than we know to stay afloat. The gaming market is becoming very cutthroat with publishers losing huge sums and not making anything in return of there games. A number of closures and the economy might be forcing insomniac to rethink about taking sony's money for something they already know how to do. Make a great resistance game.  Resistance 3 is still selling also more and more people are telling there friends to buy the game. I wish Starhawk would comeback in sales like resistance 3.

C'mon, end Resistance and make a new IP! As much as I LOVED Resistance, it at least needs to rest for several years.

Resistance dont need a rest. What about call of duty and halo, ratchet and clank, super mario bros,  those games are beaten to death with 6 or 7 sequels. Im a fan of resistance and always look forward to the next version. These people who say let it die obviously dont like the game or franchise.

PSU should have been in the Olympics, because they're showing incredible skill in jumping to conclusions!

Give it 3 years but I'd like another Resistance. There are still a lot of loose ends; there are things that need explaining (e.g. Cloven) and there was never a definitive conclusion. Even if Resistance 4 was 100% the last ever Resistance game, at least they'd have tied everything up. The way they just ended things with Resistance 3 was just appalling.

I loved resistance 1 and 2 I beat those games over and over and over again, each time being better than the last...but they made a poor story telling choice by letting Nathan Hale die. I didn't feel connected to Joe at all and I feel the ending to Resistance 3 was unsatisfactory to say the least. Whatever they decide to do with the series is ultimately up to them. But wither or not the series keeps fighting for humanity or goes extinct, let it be known that I died beside Nathan Hale.
