Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX may come to North America in 2013

While only a Japanese release has been confirmed for the hotly-anticipated Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, recent comments by a Disney executive could be pointing to a simultaneous Western release.

Speaking with Business Insider, Disney Interactive CFO Jay Rasulo mentioned two big releases coming from the ailing publisher in 2013. The first is Epic Mickey 2, but Rasulo remarked that Epic Mickey 2 would be followed mid-year by "another big title that hasn't been announced yet." As Business Insider notes, none of Disney's upcoming 2013 movie releases would appeal to a wide audience with video game adaptations. As such, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is a likely possibility, and the "mid-year" 2013 release window matches up exactly with the timeframe for the HD collection's release in Japan.

Will Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX get a North American release in 2013? Only time will tell, so stay glued to PSU.com, and you'll be the first to know when new details break. In the meantime, let us know your hopes for this collection - which includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories, and the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days - in the comments below.

Unless it's Japanese release is in December 2013, I don't see why it should take any longer than a month to localise, most of the translation is done other than the extra items/weapons/enemies etc.

@2 Very good point on the translation bit - everything is done, except for Final Mix, so why WOULDN'T they release simultaneously?

There's also no extra dialogue to be recorded because Final Mix on PS2 was in English with Japanese text, and Re:CoM was already fully localised, so its only the extras in KH1 that needs to be done.

@3 I think it has to do with the fact that the US release of every kingdom Hearts always had more (even if only a little more) content than the Japanese release. Japan always complained about us getting the better end of the bargain. Final Mix was never shipped to the US because it was a great money opportunity for Square Enix because really, what money would have to be spent on shipping overseas? If Square Enix was here instead of in Japan, it would have been us crying over it, and getting Final Mix while Japan cries constantly for Final Mix with no avail. Final Mix as well as this entire HD collection are the pacifier for Japan, and they hold it over everybody else's heads. Sad but true.

If it releases here though, Im definitely grabbing a copy! It looks remarkable.
