Billy Murray clarifies Modern Warfare 4 chatter

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 voice actor Billy Murray has clarified comments he made last week regarding his possible involvement in a sequel to the Activision military shooter.

Murray, who portrays Captain Price in the highly-successful FPS series, allegedly told a staff member of ThisisXbox on a flight to London that he was in talks with Activision regarding his role in Modern Warfare 4.

However, it turns out that Murray’s comments were misinterpreted; he was in fact talking about a new Modern Warfare title for China.

Speaking on Twitter, Murray said “told the guy I was doing a special new Modern Warfare for China, not MW4,” adding, “the guy I spoke to on the plane was very nice and I’m really pleased he loves the game but the facts have got a bit confused somewhere.”

While this appears to rule out Murray’s involvement in a new Call of Duty game, there’s nothing to say Modern Warfare 4 won’t materialize at some point down the line given the series’ success.

This year’s entry will be a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops and is being developed by Treyarch, who previously worked on Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty 3. Modern Warfare 4 is rumored to be coming out on both current and next-generation consoles in 2013.
