The co-designer behind the Road Rash franchise has said that the retro racer may return via Kickstarter – provided there’s enough interest.
Speaking to a user on Reddit, Dan Geisler revealed he’s keen on getting back on his bike, so to speak, after a 20-year hiatus.
"It hasn’t resurfaced because I was burned out after Road Rash 3. But I’m ready to do another one now. I just needed 20 years off. I’m ready to make a better one now. I miss playing it too,” he said.
“If there is enough interest, I’ll do a kickstart on it,” Geisler added.
Road Rash was a staple of the early 1990s on the Sega Mega Drive (aka Genesis), and takes the form of a motorbike combat title of sorts. Geisler worked on the first three entries in the series, though the franchise would continue until 1999’s Road Rash 64.
