Gamescom 2013 Awards – Best Indie Game

The Winner – Murasaki Baby

There’s a lot of great indie titles coming our way over the next 12 months, including Hotline Miami 2 and Spelunky, but the game that most gamers were talking about at Gamescom was PlayStation Vita exclusive Murasaki Baby.

Visually, you can’t take your eyes off it due to the stunning art work which is all hand drawn and reminiscent of games like Braid and Limbo but there’s also substance behind its stylish look.

Developed by Ovosonico, Murasaki Baby is a side-scroller that makes great use of Vita’s controls and plays on your emotions as you guide a baby via the touchscreen through a world populated by children’s fantasies and fears.

One great use of Vita is via the back touch pad which can be used to change the background and affect baby’s mood and help solve puzzles. Murasaki Baby is a dark puzzle game that promises to tug at our heart strings and it’s one of most refreshing new titles to come out of Gamescom this year.
