Capcom News Oswell E Spencer PS5 Resident Evil Requiem Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC

Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC Reportedly To Share More Details On A Key Series Villain

Haris Orkin, a video game writer who worked on Resident Evil Requiem, has let slip some details about the upcoming story DLC for Capcom’s survival horror title, revealing it’ll put the focus on Oswell E. Spencer.

Spencer, for those who don’t know, is one of the founders of the Umbrella Corporation alongside James Marcus and Edward Ashford. The character didn’t physically appear until Resident Evil 5 when he was killed by Albert Wesker, but was mentioned numerous times in files and was a major player behind-the-scenes at Umbrella and its research into the T-Virus and more. He showed up in Resident Evil Requiem during flashbacks, where we saw a slightly different side to his character

Now, speaking during Meadowlark Comic-Con, Orkin said we can expect more of Spencer in Requiem’s story DLC, which according to insider Dusk Golem, will launch late next year after Resident Evil: Veronica. Interestingly, Golem has also claimed that the DLC will feature a return to the ruins of the Spencer Mansion, an area that was originally featured Requiem but ended up getting cut.

We have an arc for Spencer in Requiem, you kind of understand that more, and then in the DLC you’ll understand it even further. I probably shouldn’t say that, but yeah!

Resident Evil Requiem launched in February 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S, and you can read our full review here. Capcom announced at the end of July that Resident Evil Requiem had sold eight million copies worldwide. The franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, with the original Resident Evil (known in Japan as Biohazard) releasing on the PlayStation on March 22, 1996.
