Japanese magazine Famitsu claims that Bandai Namco is working on a new Godzilla game for PlayStation 3.
It’s reported (via gamingeverything) that the development team are taking inspiration from the range of S.H. MonsterArts figures. In the role of Godzilla, players will be able to “take down buildings by using Godzilla’s kicks and tail blows.”
Godzilla, which apparently adopts a retro-style of graphics, is still in development but planned for release in Japan in winter 2014.
The last Godzilla game that appeared on PlayStation consoles was Godzilla: Unleashed for PS2 in 2007, a fighting game that was slated universally by critics. Let’s hope Bandai Namco do justice to a franchise that has always had great potential, but never quite delivered. Why didn’t someone create a movie-tie in to launch alongside the recent film?
