The numbers are in: PlayStation Plus offered over $1,300 worth of free games in 2014

Have you ever wondered just how much bang for your buck you get with Sony’s PlayStation Plus service?

Thankfully the answer’s forthcoming as U.K.-based PlayStation website Push Square has collated the painstaking data and delivered the definitive verdict on just how much value PlayStation gamers actually squeeze out of the online-centric service.

For the listed $50 annual entrance fee, gamers can jump on a return of just over $1,300 worth of gaming goodness, (tallied from all the game’s listed PSN prices) ranging from PS Vita titles to platform-exclusive Indie games on PS4. And with this month’s listing being a fully-fledged PS4 retail title in Injustice: Gods Among Us there’s hope that the New Year will bring more blockbuster releases PlayStation Plus’ way.

Gamers of a more cynical disposition may write off PlayStation Plus’ offerings as by-and-large hogwash but the keen-eyed folk over at Push Square also ran the numbers through review aggregator Metacritic and results were a tad surprising, with the majority of gaming months sitting at roughly 80 percent.

Granted, gamers may not own all the PlayStation formats catered for by Sony’s now-ubiquitous service but there’s little denying the value that it proves to have, both monetarily and in raw gaming horsepower.

For fans of statistical crunching, the website’s also provided a region-by-region and month-by-month breakdown so you can see just how well your particular PlayStation region faired.

One thing’s for sure: the service hasn’t been kind to many gamers’ back catalogues, with the majority of PlayStation Universe’s fit to burst.
