PS4 firmware update 2.04 is now available, but DO NOT download it

UPDATE 2 – We’ve now downloaded the update with no issues.

UPDATE 1– Many users are now reporting no issues with downloading the PS4 firmware update, though there are still sporadic reports of problems.

The latest PS4 firmware update 2.04 is now live and available to download, but users are experiencing a host of errors.

We recommend you do NOT download the firmware update just yet as users are experiencing issues, resulting in error codes including SU-30709-9 and CE-32937-4.

Via Reddit, some users are reporting they cannot download the update while others are reporting issues such as the inability to access their digital content and account options. We’re not going to download it until we’re confident that it’s not going to cause any problems.

It may be a coincidence, but it’s interesting to note that 13 hours ago, the Ask PlayStation Twitter account pointed followers to a list of PS4 error codes that they can look up if they encounter issues on their console.

Depsite troubles for some, we have also had reports that some users have been able to download the update and haven’t reported any issues. We’ll be monitoring the situation closely throughout the day, so please check back for updates.
