Sony will wait until Paris Games Week to announce its long-rumored PlayStation 4 hardware upgrade, dubbed Neo.
That’s at least according to well-known industry tipster, Shinobi602, who said during the SDGC podcast over the weekend that the format holder won’t announce the upgraded device at E3 next month like many suspect.
"I’ve heard that Sony will announce the PS4 Neo at Paris Games Week. This made sense to me because the supposed upgrades are coming in what, October? I would have said this publicly if I was 100% sure, but it’s just what I was told,” he said.
Rumors have been gathering pace about the Neo since earlier this year, with initial reports suggesting the upgrade will roll out this holiday season, priced at $400. However, later stories pointed to a March 2017 release for the PS4K, which is said to include a meatier GPC, CPU and RAM.
More recently, it was reported that Sony will release the device even before the launch of PlayStation VR in October, with a reveal coming at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 in September. With all these conflicting reports, it’s difficult to determine just when the device see the light of day.
However, the general consensus appears to be that Neo won’t show its face at E3 next month regardless of when it hits shelves.
