YouTube PS4 app gets update for 360-degree video support on PSVR

Update – The 1.09 update for the PlayStation 4 YouTube app has been rolled out, which allows users to now watch 360-degree and videos while wearing the PlayStation VR (PSVR) headset. It can be downloaded right now!

A PlayStation 4 YouTube app adding PlayStation VR support is set to roll out shortly, allowing owners of Sony’s virtual reality headset to watch videos in 360-degrees.

PS4 YouTube app update 1.09 will be available on the PlayStation Network shortly, and some users are already reporting that they can access it. It appears that it’s being rolled out in phases, so it’s worth hovering over the PlayStation YouTube app icon on the home screen, tapping options and checking for updates.

On opening the YouTube app with your VR headset turned on, you’ll be prompted whether to use ‘Normal’ or ‘ PlayStation VR’ mode before being able to access a wealth of virtual reality clips. On YouTube VR there are some great videos, including roller coaster rides, short movies and horror shorts.
