Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Director’s Cut is coming to the PlayStation 4, publisher Square Enix has announced.
Originally released on the PS2, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time will boast a number of enhancements for Sony’s current-generation console, including 1080p visuals and a number of other visuals improvements to bring the game up to date for modern gamers. No release date has been given at this point.
According to early reports, the PS4 Director’s Cut version will likely be a digital-only release, and will come equipped with Trophies, Share and Remote Play functionality.
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time first launched back in 2003 and takes place 400 years after the events of Star Ocean: The Second Story. Unlike the menu-based combat system employed by many JRPGs, Till the End of Time features real-time interactive battles that echo the .hack and Tales franchises. A Director’s Cut re-release of the game followed in 2004 that added a Versus mode and various other extras, so presumably this is the edition we’re getting on PS4.
The most recent entry in the Star Ocean series, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, was released for the PS3 and PS4 in 2016.
