And the winner is…
We discovered the oddest thing this past Halloween: when zombies invade the Wild West, expect one hell of a wild ride. Rockstar could have taken Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare expansion in many directions—campy, silly, scary, dramatic. Instead of a slap-stick take on zombies, Rockstar opted for a more theatrical, almost B-movie quality to its killer expansion. In Undead Nightmate, John Marston is on a mission to find a cure for the zombie disease that plagued his wife and son, and spread throughout the countryside, even into Mexico. The downloadable content adds heaps of new quests that tell a dark, and often haunting tale. With hours of new content, Undead Nightmare gave everyone a reason to re-explore the expansive world of Red Dead Redemption.
And the Community Award goes to…
John Marston and gang easily scooped up the Community Award for Best Game Expansion of 2010, nabbing 45.4% of the community votes in the category. Dragon Age: Origins’ sizable Awakening expansion managed to grind its way to level 2 — we mean, runner-up status — with 22.7% of the votes. Episodes From Liberty City carjacked 18.6% of community votes, leaving Capcoms’ Lost in Nightmares and Super Street Fighter IV to battle over the remaining 13.4%. If you’re wondering, Chris Redfield’s Lightning Hawk Magnum topped T. Hawk and rest of the Super Street Fighter IV crew by 1%.
